• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So I got my original radio problem solved with SWR. Now. I have a Very interesting issue. I get a loud static noise in my radio when I turn my fog lights on. And I turn my squelch up half way or so. It goes away, Any ideas why that could be??

Those fog lights LED by chance? Some LEDs are notorious for being electrically noisy.

Yeah. They are the 3 inch LED cube lights. I wired them in a couple months ago. They are just below my hood In my grille. And what’s funny is. My head lights are after market LED bulbs no kit and my stock fog lights I changed to after market led light and no kit. I guess I could disconnect the cube lights and see what happens.

Your led lights are pulsed at a high rate with a clock circuit to conserve current draw and extend the life of the leds. The led cases are plastic ?

I have aluminum cased Cree led lights on my pickup. No issues...

Tuning out led noise can be a real pain. Make sure you have good grounds everywhere and installing some filters on the radio may help. A lot of leds these days have really poorly designed circuitry to save cost and it can be a nightmare.

My LED lights are wire tapped into the factory fog lights. My Cube LED lights are metal casing.

Run a remote relay don’t run the led lights to a switch inside the car it will be like a giant antenna.
They sell the remote relay cable harness on ebay.

Might try using the factory wiring to trigger a relay and wire the lights directly (fused) to the battery. Ran in to that on a jeep a while back that was getting led fog light noise in the factory fm radio. That solved it in that case.

Sounds like the chopper circuit to run the leds are little Rf generators

I had a fog light kit on my gmc and I ran the relay off one of the fender yellow parking lights seemed to work good for me.

Ha so I decided to go and mess with the issue. I disconnected those cube fog lights. I turned my factory fog light on and I still get the static. And I also get the static with no lights on now. A little weird

]I think you mentioned you have LED headlights too ? Unplug those at the connectors and see if it goes away.

Do these headlights go into a dim mode during the day ?

Something is generating the noise and by you postings all these lights have been added into the system?

You didn't start with it so its a process of elimination.
