So as most of you know I'm awaiting my psr500, and now I'm thinking antennas and accessories. Living in Castle Rock what are your thoughts on the needs of using an external antenna? I'm thinking if I don't really need one then maybe i will invest in a MilAir LP for my Pro-2006 (Buckley from C.R.?) and use the psr500 as-is for the P25 stuff. Can I monitor Douglas, Arapahoe, and Denver P25 systems from Castle Rock with the stock hand held?

Are there any accessories considered must haves the 500? Does the scannermaster leather case have an open front or is there protective plastic? Does anyone prefer a different case for this scanner? I already have Win500 but is there any other software that is useful? Is there relatively inexpensive software available to leave my scanner at home and remotely access it from work? Anything else I'm not thinking of? Thanks again for the help.

N0GTG sells some great ear pieces, I rarely go out with out it. As for an antenna. Just the Radio Shack 800 band works well for me. hope that helps!

The leather case does not have an open front. You need to remove the belt clip from the scanner to use the case. I wish it had more & larger holes for the speaker. It was pretty expensive after shipping & handling, but I don't regret buying it.

Win500 allows you to remotely control your scanner with a free client application as long as you don't have a firewall at home (I have not been able to get passed my firewall). Another alternative is GoToMyPc (www.gotomypc.com). For $19.95 a month, you can access your entire computer from any other computer connected to the internet and be able to do everything just as if you were there in front of it. Allows remote printing, share files, and hear everything from the sound card on your host computer. Will give you 30 days to try it out before you have to pay for it.

Thanks Bill. I'll need to learn how to do that.

Accessory Update: I now have a new Diamond 130NJ installed with 3319 in the attic hooked up to my Pro-2006.
