Now I'm confused about P25 "systems" (again/still)

I understand that P25 just means digital, and can be in several system types. But, in the UASD software for the 396T, the "Motorola Type I and II Standard" systems have a check box for "CC only". If you check it, you just enter the CCs only. Okay. However, the "Motorola P25" system type does not have that check box. Does this system type, by definition, work properly with ONLY the CCs entered? Would it work any differently if all the channels were entered?

P25 systems get channel assignments from the control channel and can only be programmed as CC only. Adding the other channels will only take up memory and do nothing to make the scanner track the system.

Thanks, Mike. I really didn't want to input all those other freqs. I feel better, now.

That is correct BUT you should also include the alternate control channels! They can (and many places do) switch control channels from time to time.

Good idea, Hank. Never hurts to clarify, in case another noobie reads this. I entered, and was referring to both the red (main), and blue (alternate) freqs as CCs.

P25 SYSTEMS work as CC ONLY by default. So there is no option to choose CC ONLY when you're programming in a P25 system. Just select P25 as the system type and load up nothing but the listed control channels. Red and Blue ones. So that way when the system decides to switch it's CC you'll still hear stuff.

As far as MOT I/II those can be scanned either with all system frequencies (in no specific order) or by CC ONLY mode. And of course EDACS wide systems need to have all system frequencies programmed and in a specific logical order.

Hope that clears up the confusion. P25 is CC ONLY by default.
