Okay on the reserved channels etc.. thanks for that comment. This is similar to how the existing TMR was affected by national channels etc... I just hadn't seen the list of reserved channels in the 700 band..so having a link and list is a great help. I am wondering if this list is a US one or will be in effect also in Canada?

As for the search range you mentioned.. well sure that is the overall range and I certainly don't dispute that is a best range to enter into search, but in this case I took the lowest known frequency and extrapolated from there, just in the interests of narrowing it down a bit. Now that the frequencies are pretty much complete there really isn't much need for this matrix anyway as we don't need to search anymore. I myself like to see which sites are in which groups or rows of frequencies, more or less just to see how IC uses the frequencies, and I will for sure in my own excel be adding in the reserved ones you have referred to..

I got another affiliation on White's Lake today...15:06:01 TGID 10 did you catch that one Chris?

Under 'Affiliation List' I have one entry:

TGID: T:144DT: 4/14/14@10:34
RadID: 23
Description: TGID DT: 4/17/14 @ 15:06
Last affiliation: 04/17 15:06:01

Yep, got that, as well as a few channel grants around the same time.

Also Jay just something you mentioned earlier about one of the system frequencies having a usage of "iv" with the i meaning frequency transmits ID, you were correct that frequency is the one it transmits its ID on, and it even logs it under the channel grant tab, every 30 minutes, type is CWID and talkgroup description is the callsign CZM237.

Also after tonight's dismal 6-run, 7-walk eighth inning I think I'm justified in ditching the Jays avatar :)

Was able to positively ID two TGs today:

12044 EO-P2
12045 EO-P3

For those not in the know, EO-P2 is a TG on TMR1, it's a province-wide emergency ops TG that the provincial radio technicians use as their primary place to hang out. They can be raised on that channel if needed.
I guess the province is continuing the same naming convention for the EO talkgroups (used by VFDs across the province) as on the current system.

Interesting - are you able to confirm simulcasting between the TMR1 EO-P2 and the TMR2 channel of the same name?

If so, that throws out the idea that they are using a SmartX (at least in its default configuration, where TMR1 TG divided by 16 = TMR2 TG).

Negative, not simulcast. However it makes sense to retain the same talkgroup nomenclature between the two systems, so make for a relatively seamless transition once the public safety users start moving over.

Excellent! I'm also now receiving:
Musquodoboit Harbour, site 49, 770.19375
Ellershouse, site 14, 771.78125

Interestingly the White's Lake site is now reporting the following neighbours (in addition to the three I've already posted):

43 - 769.10625 - TAFL says this is Upper Tantallon
40 - 770.50625 - TAFL says this is either Chaplin, East Kempville or Wakeup Hill. None of those locations make sense geographically as a neighbour to White's Lake. Site 40 must either not be licensed correctly or something else is up. Also I can't find a CC on 770.50625...

For neighbours, Musquodoboit reports:
- 11 769.08125 (most likely Chaswood)
- 12 769.11875 (most likely Airport)
- 46 772.39375 (most likely Marinette)
- 48 769.09375 (most likely Preston)
- 50 769.30625 Tantallon

For Ellershouse neighbours are:
- 03 769.13125 (most likely Wellington, although nothing is heard on this CC and I should be close enough)
- 08 771.70625 (most likely New Minas)
- 36 769.16875 (most likely Shubenacadie)
- 72 769.30625 (most likely Aldersville)

Hmmm... blanket crypto for law enforcement seems like a convenient but ill-considered choice. They currently migrate to reliable mobile telephone service, hidden amongst a large forest of encrypted drivel, for sensitive discussions. Apart from eroding public trust, moving that traffic onto a lower bandwidth service seems like it could be a risky move since that encrypted data is more easily isolated and recorded.

Given the current level of discipline on open channels, I would predict that comms will only become sloppier with the false sense of security provided by tactical crypto. I suspect it's just a matter of time before a decision to use blanket crypto puts unflattering traffic, as with the wikileaks apache video, back into the public eye.

Re your neighbour lists Chris... it sure does seem that there is some kind of glitch in the new system, at least for this neighbour aspect... some of them seem just a bit odd. I don't mean your surmises, but rather what site numbers and frequencies are showing. For example you are reporting that Site 3 came up: " 03 769.13125 (most likely Wellington" but I am thinking this is Claremont.... And then some seem totally outlandish.. site 36 which really ought to be Hebbville .. same frequency, and while we don't for sure know Hebbville's site number yet, 36 fits for it in the sequence if you work backwards from Aldersville being Site 41. ..Hebbville seems to me to be in the impossible range, unless there is some kind of wonderful propagation path...so how could Site 36 even be present in the neighbour list... that's what I mean about glitch....

Yeah at the moment I'm assuming the advertised neighbours are, to be blunt, F'ed up... a lot of them just don't make sense to me. Hopefully this will straighten out as the rest of the system comes online.

North Sydney, Baddeck, Ingonish & Inverness RCMP offices have disappeared and now I know why....So I guess thats it for the RCMP; even if my pro 96 could monitor the 700 frequency band, the encryption would negate it anyway..GRRRRRRR

RCMP Province wide with the exception of HRM went encrypted on April 1st. This had nothing to do with TMR 2 as it happened on TMR 1 but regardless, no matter what scanner you have you still won't hear them on TMR 2 sadly

First time i have heard this but the DFO contacted 355. He was clear and audible but 355 was all gobley gook (Encrypted). I guess the DFO, although they were using the same system have not gone encryptd yet.

I think the reason this is the first time you it was because DFO has always been encrypted (Except I believe Inspections and Inland Fisheries) and has always been dispatched by 355 in Truro. Id say the DFO Officer accidentally turned off ENC. Just my guess but to my knowledge, DFO has always been monitored and dispatched by RCMP Telecomms

That is correct - OCC does the dispatch duties for DFO. I think you are probably correct re: encyption turned off on that particular radio.
