In the past, I observed an N.S.A. police officer carrying a Harris P7100 UHF portable and assumed they would have a talkgroup on the Ft. Gordon TRS. I've been searching for any new activity for about a year now without any luck. Today, I decided to search the 380mhz spectrum and found some activity! I found a data control channel on 380.075mhz with a SysID of AA3. I also found some encryption on 386.375mhz, an alert tone(?) on 381.750mhz, and an open carrier on 381.075mhz.

I believe this may be an exclusive system to the N.S.A. since they're building a very large site on the post. Anyone have any input? Any help with gathering together new info would be appreciated.

Is the army crypto school still at Ft. Gordon?

Some Army (and cross service) crypto schools are still at Ft. Gordon, particularly the equipment repair and basic operations types. Linguist and some operations types are trained elsewhere often at combined or cross service schools. Gordon has a large (and growing) operational contingent as well as the training side of the house.

On both the training and ops sides of the house it is common to see Army, Air Force, and Navy personnel in one facility.

Thanks Token, I was down there in '66 for Aviation Electronics School. At that time, it had large electronics schools as well as MP schools. We went by the crypto school everyday on the way to and from our school.

The only thing that really sticks in my mind is that we had reveille every morning at 0630 and it rained at 0645. We were released for chow at 0700 so we started the day in wet cloths every day.

Fort Gordon '69

There was some sort of secret squirrel activity in '69.
It was on the north side of the cantonment area down in a lil holler.
(as you look up the main parade field toward post HQ it was on the right about a quarter mile over)
High fence, wire, lights and guards with dogs.
When I asked questions about it at crypto school, I was told not to ask any more.

Amazing how a post from almost two years ago has been hijacked and turned into another anti-encryption flame. Really, people. Encryption has nothing to do with the original post. Why not take it to the Everything else forum where you can continue the bashing. I tried receiving the CC, and it is to far away for me. Wish I was closer. It would be interesting to monitor. Which, I believe was the intent of the OP.

It's gone now. I don't have a lot of tolerance for the off-topic encryption rants. You should let us know in the future by reporting the posts so we can keep this place clean.

Everyone, moving forward lets stay away from the encryption topic. The topic isn't whether you agree with it or not. Please take that somewhere else.
