FAY here! Anyone listening to them right now? I hear no CC on their trunked system. And a beep about every 10 seconds on Tac C.

Anyone have any info?

beep

i just moved from Springdale to Fayetteville. Dont have an 800hmz scanner yet.
didnt need one in s'dale.

the beep sounds like it is a stat alert, which anounces that the channle is to not be tx on. typicly this is used when there is a hi risk issue happening. i also work for a radio station. the girl who does the weekends is also a police dispatcher for fay. i'll ask her about it.

i was a Nob hill Firefighter for 8 years, so never needed to listen to fay. not much interest past sheriff, s'dale and firecomm. i always just used a uhf radio as a scanner.

Im a uniden dealer and just ordered in a new scanner. will most likely need some help getting it set up on the trunk system.

That means the system is operating in failsoft mode. Apparently, something must have happened to the main site controller? Lightning strikes are famous for not being friendly to electronics components. In fact, its even possible the system might be undergoing to maintenance or software upgrades of some sort?

I was going to add the same thing. Back when FYV's system was a Type I (early 1990s) it would go into failsoft about every other thunderstorm. When that happens, talk groups are divvied up and assigned to each of the repeaters .... and hilarity ensues.

Have any lightning around the time you heard the beeping? :)

I monitor from Charleston, 20 east of Ft. Smith, so I am not technically in NW Arkansas. I am stuck with a Pro-91 handheld and a Pro-2004 desk-top unit. Beats nothing.
