U.S. Highway 40 near Dinosaur is currently closed because of a two-vehicle crash late Wednesday night.
Craig Fire/Rescue Capt. Dennis Jones confirmed two people were killed in a crash between a semi truck and truck pulling a camper.
The semi was carrying compressed carbon dioxide, which in its compressed form is a liquid, but when released turns into a gas.
Craig Fire/Rescue was called out to the scene at 8:44 p.m., near mile marker 11, to help contain issues with carbon dioxide. The Fire Department was relieved by a Hazmat crew at about 11 p.m.
"It was a pretty horrific accident," Jones said. "Everything was on fire."
