Currently working on converting the XTS stuff off to a APX 4k. Had to check on the Uniden for band plan. Why does channel 5 have a UHF frequency of 450.0000 6.25 spacing?

I've found a lot of junk in band plans over the years, this looks like a default setting that wasn't removed - or was left "just in case."

You'll still need to enter it in for your APX.

So put it in position five as 450.000 step 6.25. I'm very sure this band plan was when NWCD went to the 9600 baud trunking because the other trunking system they had did not have this in it. Now that I'm recalling the two band plans.

While it is always a good idea to enter the full bandplan, unless the system sends out a channel request with that CHID, the radio will just ignore the entry.

Moto likes to leave their 'defaults' in for some reason. I have seen plenty of UHF mil TRSs that still have the 7/8 and even 900 CHIDs in them knowing full well that system will never have infrastructure on those bands. Lazy programming perhaps?

I blame it on CCSI. It's much easier on them to squirt in the same bandplan and maybe add a custom element or two than to make a completely new custom one.

Negative. The only required entry in the ASTRO 25 Channel ID table is the first slot, which defaults to 800 FDMA. Every other slot is optional, and you need only enter the ones that actually matter based on the band(s) the system is operating on.

I've also seen many ASTRO 25 systems that have 700/800/900 FDMA/TDMA band plan elements, when the system is UHF FDMA. In that case, you can ignore all of them when programming the subscriber except for the UHF entries.

The vendor in Irving sometimes did the same thing....
