Ref: NWCD rebanded

(Courtesy of CARMA)

As best as I can tell the below is the re-banding scheme for NWCD:

Old New
======== ========
866.0875 => 851.0875
868.0750 => 853.0750
866.5375 => 851.5375
866.7875 => 851.7875
856.7125 (not changed?)
866.8375 => 851.8375
867.3125 => 852.3125
868.7500 => 853.7500

Previously, the control data channel rotated around on the first four. It will be interesting to see if that pattern is retained. The control channel is currently up and running on 853.0750 as others have reported.

Apparently the system was switched over to the new frequencies this morning. The old channels appear to be quiet.

Happy Scanning! - Ted

Are you able to just re-enter the NWCD system with the new freqys for it to work or do you literly have to use the new 3.1 firmware in the 396 to get there rebanded system to work...Here in Joliet when "Stateville" prison (Motorola Type11 analog) rebanded only re-entering the freqys worked fine...Has Motorola actually changed the freqy # ing system...Thank You

ron, in order to access the custom band you need to reprogram the system.

I have upgraded my 996 to v3, I have the beta ACR990, what do I enter for lower, upper, step and offset?

I don't have a clue.

Thanks,

Jim

Sorry, but I'm confused.....or just being stupid......
I can't seem to get NW central programmed correctly, I tried upmans instruction above but it sets it as a conventional system,
when I try setting it as a Type 2 standard I get no option to set the band plan
could anyone post a good .USD file for NW central

Okay, with Arc990 BETA I have it working. I was trying to fit the Freqs for NWCD into the band plan screen. Now I know the band plan is a standard setup and I typed that in and everything is fine.

Thanks,

jim

Yea, I programed in today and am having no luck either. Maybe I'm missing a channel or somthing else.

correction, standard programing, not p25 mode, was missing a channel. 851.7875 not on rr.

7A22h is want you want to see, once you get that your all set.

cc on 851.7875, add to database

I managed to get somewhat programed following upmans instructions
my problem is it is still showing up as a conventional system, How to I get it to show as a trunked system so I can program the talkgroups?
It finds talkgroups when in search mode, and I did save the talkgroups that came up in the scanner, but when I try saving the .USD from the scanner to my computer it does not show up with any talkgroups

If your using a Uniden scanner ex:396/996 i think you have to re-enter the system, delete the old one....This will let you choose Motorola Type11, not P25 as its a "analog-digital 3600 baud system....A P25 is 9600 baud...Then enter the freqys and start over...I have put in the new "Multi-tables for my PRO96 and when i visit my daughter in Elgin see if it works on my RS-PRO96, before this rebanding it worked perfect on the PRO96...I have NO idea how to get a checksum # and download the 3.01ver: into my 396, in the near future i have to find some kind soul to upgrade my Uniden 898,246,396....The GRE and RShacks are easy....I have printed all the "Firmware notes and instructions from the Uniden web site for these models to be upgraded but this old computer will not work.....As mentioned in the above post you must install the new CH-lo, CH-hi, base, offset which are in the new upgrade menu....

Ok, I'm kinda confused...I have the 396t, and deleted the old frequencies and put in the new ones to my existing nwcd system. Do I HAVE to install new software on the scanner? I only hear one side of a transmission rarely. It is still too quiet. I know something isn't right here. Thanks

Still a little Glitchy

I used ARC396 to reconfigure and reload my NWCD system into my 396. I used this frequency list:

851.0875
853.0750
851.5375
851.7875
851.8375
852.3125
853.7600
856.7125

I used the preset "rebanded" ARC396 setting which recreates the edited custom bandplan as suggested by Uniden;

1 - 851.0250 854.0000 + 25Khz 440
2 - 851.0125 868.9875 + 25Khz 0

I retained the talkgroup list I had been using.

After fiddling with some of the system settings via the radio's controls I came upon a group of setting which works fairly well in scan mode:

Status Bit - Ignore
End Code - Yes
Digital End Code - Yes
I-Call - On
Control Channel Only - On
P25 Level - Auto

Modulation - Auto

Note: With Control Channel Only mode set to Off the radio would not track the system at all - wouldn't even recognize the active control channel (851.7875 this morning).

When I go to ID search mode the radio makes one or two passes on the system. Then it stops on the control channel signal, plays the data stream over the speaker and displays 708162 as a talk group.

Something here is still a miss. Anyone getting good performance currently on a 396 for NWCD in both scan and search modes? If so, could you share your settings? Might be a real help to many people here if you fall into that category and would be so kind as to post your system file here on the yahoo file server or over at radio reference.

Thanks in advance and Happy Scanning! - Ted

Ok, I've done everything else except use the "rebanded" preset. Where would I be able to do this? I couldn't find it in the menu. Thanks

At least some of the packages are setting the system as '800 Custom/Reband'. There should be something similar in ARC396 73 Mike
