Hello, I'm new to NWI scanning and newer to digital. I have an SDS200 (preprogrammed for Lake/Porter Counties by Bearcat Warehouse) and use Proscan. I'm able to listen to most of the communities, ISP and County PD on SAFE-T and the Simulcast channels, but have not yet been able to locate Winfield PD traffic or TGs. I heard they may possibly share with Crown Point, yet the RR database shows they are on their own P25 TG. Can anyone confirm if & where they heard Winfield?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if I've ever heard Winfield PD either, now that you mention it.

Best bet would be to have Proscan log receptions for a day or two to see if their TG is used. I've used this trick on various trunked systems in the area to look for new / unknown talkgroups.

Great suggestion. Assuming I did it correctly, I did try letting Proscan log for nearly a week on both Lake County systems, but never saw the TGs mentioned in the RR database (for Winfield) pop up. The database does not show they are encrypted (as far as I can tell).

Winfield is listed in Lake County Public Safety using TG's 135, 136, 137 and 138. I do not have them programmed though.

Although Winfield is shown in the DB as being assigned the above 4 referenced TGs, all the other communities on the Lake County system are shown with similar TGs assigned yet their actual dispatching is done on another TG. An example would be the Towns 1 and 2 TGs, each of which dispatch multiple towns, yet these same towns are shown later in the DB as having their own TGs. I'm thinking Winfield may be on a TG with other communities or even dispatched on one of the Lake County Law TGs. I went back in the NWI Times website and checked as a couple of months ago there was a big to do about wanting to realign TG usage and join some areas together on others. I Googled "Lake County Dispatch Consolidation" and a number of articles came up. Unfortunately I didn't see Winfield listed as being affected. I'm guessing it may be a small department and wouldn't have it's own TG. I will listen more closely and see if I hear them come up.

Thanks for this. It's along the same lines of what I previously heard (that they are on a shared TG, possibly with Crown Point?). Please let me know if you hear them, and I'll do the same.

Due to the small size of the department and previous agreement with county pd, that's where i would focus (county). If you have lake county law enforcement programmed, make sure you have Winfield TG's in there as well. I do not listen to pd. Can only handle so many plates and licenses being ran. I just have "countywide" active on my radio's for all the chase's. Just each others personal preference i guess.

Winfield is on TG 18 of the Lake County Public Safety system, with the county police and Schneider Police.
That did the trick, thanks!
Now I’m trying to find Winfield FD. They are serviced by Lakes of the Four Seasons FD, but none of the listed TGID for them in RR are yielding any traffic. I also read somewhere that they may be on Porter County FD simulcast, but I’m not finding them there either. Anyone have any insight?

Lakes of 4 Seasons FD is dispatched by both Lake and Porter Counties. Porter County is on the Safe-T system while Lake County has their own "Lake County Public Safety" system. Then you select Lake Co Fire/EMS, FIre South dispatch. Also include the Ops channels

All Lake County FD's are dispatched on TG 305 with the exception on Shererville and Cedar Lake who are on Southcomm. Also Lake County does a simulcast on the old Sheriff channel, 154.815 that you can set up on your SDS to receive fire tone out that will allow you to select what departments you want to hear being toned out. You can find the fire tone out list on the Wiki section on RR.

305 is a "link" of the analog conventional 154.815. Labeled as Countywide Alarm. It's down as much as it's up. Very unreliable. Use a separate Fav List for the 154.815 conventional analog LOFS is identified as UID 3500 on both sides of the line.

thanks. does that apply to Lake of Four Seasons since they cover Winfield, and the Lake & Porter county sides of the LOFS?
I'm showing Lake County Public Safety TGID 305 is County Fire Countywide Alarm in RR, and I'm not hearing much of anything on that TG.
Is 154.815 a conventional frequency or digital simulcast?

the radio UID or do they refer to the engines & such as 35xx over the air? I'm getting a lot of hits on TGID 302 on Lake County Public Safety / Countywide Simulcast (County Fire/EMS South Dispatch) but never really hear anyone referring to their department OTA (except maybe Hebron or Hobart)

305 is a link or patch which is unreliable. Use a separate FL for 154.815 conventional analog. This will be for tone paging only. LOFS will then be heard on Lake County Fire South Dispatch, or assigned Ops channel. A separate FL should be established for the SAFE-T System for Porter County (and others). Safe-T has a lot of intereswting stuff. I can name several things I have programmed but may not be of any interest to you.

In the State or County systems you'll find the UID's for each dept. BTW, are you on 2 meters, freq?

I'd find the UID in the RR database? I'm only seeing TGID. I'll keep poking around.
Not currently on 2m here. I'm not familiar with the repeaters in this area yet. So I need to reprogram for this area.

I'd be interested in whatever you suggest. I'm still building FLs for this radio.
