What is the data format called that NWS uses to push out Wx info with the SAME Codes?

That's all its called? Does anyone else ever use it?

Is this 1200 baud since its on highband?

FIPS codes are the county codes, such as MIC083 (Michigan, County #083.) It is included in the SAME protocol, but not related.

As far as I know, SAME is a proprietary format. No one else uses it.

Yes it is.

You can decode it to text if you have a decoder that supports the format. I have a INFO-TECH/UNIVERSAL M-7000V5 converter that, when setup, will decode the trans.

www.universal-radio.com (check the "used" section)

It's been a long time but if I remember the decoded txt was pretty much the same as the voice trans only with alot of errors.

You are better off just listening. :)

SAME is the protocol used to activate the Emergency Alert System on radio and TV. In addition to the Weather Radio recievers, SAME allows EAS messages to be immediately rebroadcast on radio and television stations.
