If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

NX-1000 2-tone signaling

I have 2-tone signaling setup on the NX-5000 and NX-3000 and I'm trying to replicate this same configuration on the NX-1000.. however the NX-1000 only seems to support "NXDN ID" as an optional signaling type where as you can select 2-tone X on the NX-3000/5000. Is there another way I can setup alert tones to be cross compatible on all 3 series of radios? Essentially I'm just looking to setup an on-demand alert call that all users on the channel can hear to bring their attention to the channel. I'd like to do this on the NX-P500 as well but I'm not sure any of this will be supported there.

I'm not sure the NX-1000 series will support 2-tone encode. It'll absolutely do 2-tone decode on analog.

I don't think the P500 does either one.

I can check tomorrow when I'm in the office and have access to my programming laptop.

I'm pretty sure the 1000 series doesn't support 2 tone decode on NXDN. I think it's only 3000 and 5000 series.
I checked the 200/700 to make sure and they don't look like they do either.

The digital 2 tone is is a "newish" feature so yes the NX-X00s are way too old for that. The 5000, 3000, 1000s are all capable on their platform but you have to shave off features somewhere to justify the price point of each tier. The codec, however, has always supported DTMF and does it well.
