    To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

NX-5700 Scan List issues

I have an NX-5700/NX-5800 dual radio setup with both radios connected to the HHCH and programmed in personality mode. I am having an issue trying to get scan lists to work on this thing.

Both radios have around 50 zones in them, and most of the zones are single scan and do in fact scan without issues. Zone 1 in each radio is set up to use a scan list (List 1) and I have set up List 1 with around 20 channels from various zones (mix of analog, NXDN, and P25). I cannot get scan to work in this zone despite having the correct scan list selected in the Zone Edit screen and the scan list populated. When I hit the scan button I just get the invalid tone.

Any ideas what needs to be corrected to fix this? I need to be able to use a list as what I need to scan changes daily depending upon what I am doing and where I am.

I tried reducing the scan list down to just one member with the same result. I then switched it back to Single scan and it scans fine. These are my settings for the zone.

Surely someone else has had this issue?

Zone/Channel>(Specific zone)>Zone/Channel Information>Scan List No.--- each channel should be set to the scan list you are using or to "Zone Common". Sometimes when you select single zone and then go back to Scan List mode, the scan list No. column resets itself to "None".
My firmware is not latest but I have a problem making user selectable priority work properly. My other ***** is when I go to delete a channel for any reason if it is in one or more scan lists I have to delete it from those lists before I can delete the channel. At one time I had a lot of scan lists and it would turn into an easter egg hunt to find everywhere a channel was referenced. In the end I use single zone scan except when absolutely necessary to use a list.

@otobmark That worked! Thanks!

I agree it can be tedious. Single Zone scan is the way to go but as much as I travel I just have to use a list sometimes.

I went through and set all my channels in Zone 1 to Scan List 1 and it is working fine now, including scanning channels from other zones. I need to experiment with it a little more later to see exactly what the capabilities/limitations are and what setting it to "Zone Common" will do.
