• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I had purchased a NX-5700 used (had DMR, P25, SD-Card licenses already applied), I purchased the wideband KPG-D1N license at the time and was able to program the deck. I recently got the remote head kit and purchased a brand new NX-5800, and also purchased the FPP, DMR and SD-Card licenses with it. Kenwood directly emailed me the JKEFR license. When I startup KPT-300LMC (in online mode) it defaults to Software authentication mode and lists my D1N licenses, when I try and choose Radio Authentication I get a error that pops up that says:

When I go to account registration it asks for a license key or JKEFA file. I don't recall ever getting that, is it something I need to purchase separate, or does it come from the dealer I purchased the radio features from?

Ok, so I got the JKEFA key from John... Now For whatever reason my radio looks like it took the licenses but they aren't activated (if that makes sense). This software makes me feel dumb.

So I loaded my 3 licenses into KPT-300LMC, double clicked them, hit Radio Authentication, it game me the message "Authentication Completed". When I look at the features in KPG-D1N it doesn't show them in the list, and in KPT-300LMC, when I hit refresh it doesn't show them either....

However, when I go into history in KPT-300LMC, it shows the licenses associated to the radio (with correct serial).

If I go into cancellation it shows them...

But in the activation screen my qty is no 0/1 and they aren't listed.

I tried powercycleing the radio to no avail... Please help... So frustrating...

This happens from time to time, I had one just earlier today. Just run the radio activation again and if it does not work try after a half hour or so.

Also, if you are dual deck remote head, make sure you have the correct deck selected on head1 so it knows which deck to authenticate.

In D1N, Tools, Transceiver information, does it list the entitlements for the radio?

Other option is to try and cancel and reassign.

In D1N is is not in the entitlement list.
Tried a cancel, license still shows 0/1, but if I try and cancel again, it says it's already been canceled. Its like its in some weird limbo state.
