• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

NX200 Battery Connectivity Issues

Hello Everyone,

I am a volunteer firefighter in Kentucky and I just recently purchased a new Kenwood NX-200 to listen to our Law Enforcement channel, which is a NEX96 conventional channel. I have an Aimtobest KNB-48L I bought new off of Amazon. The radio has been working fine for a little over a week, but today it won't come on unless I press and hold the battery down in the area of the terminals. A similar occurrence happened two months ago when I bought a new NX-300 for the Fire side. Except the battery was from IFREQTECH, and had connection issues immediately(which was also new from Amazon). But when I took it down to the station and swapped it with an IFREQTECH 48L from another NX-300, they both connected just fine and I've been able to use it with no problems ever since. Anybody experiencing something similar like this?

Buying after market batteries is always a risk. It's not worth it to save a few bucks if you rely on your radio for your (or someone else's). safety.

This suggests that there isn't an issue with the mounting slots on the radio chassis, but it's worth taking a good close look at where the battery attaches, just to make sure.
I've had a few radios come in where someone purchased the cheap-o batteries and had this issue. Only solution is to replace it with a higher quality battery.

I've found it worth the cost to either stick with Kenwood brand batteries, or at least something like Power Products. No way I'd purchase no-name batteries off Amazon.

I would send it back! If you have waited too long, you probably can put some tape in the right places and get it snug and work. Just have to do some looking and get the tape in the right place. And hope the batteries in the case are better than the case fitting!
