Nx5000 series dmr programming

I am looking for help on programming DMR into the Kenwood NX5000 series radios. I see where to enter the frequency, color code and time slot information, but I don't understand where and how the talk group and other miscellaneous DMR information gets entered, adjusted or configured. I am not really understanding the whole concept on how DRM is programmed into the NX5000. Anyone have a .dat file of their DMR configuration that they would be willing to share with me to look over? Any help on this is greatly appreciate.

I don't own the NX5000 series but I have programmed several other brands of radios and they are generally all the same.

Some where in the programming software the should be a list for digital contacts. This is where you would create your talk groups. Then when you go to program the digital channel there should be a box for TX group or TX contact, or something similar. This box would have a drop down selection list of the talk groups you created in the digital contact list. Select the talk group you want. Now this channel is basically that talk group.

Repeat the same steps for additional channels/talk groups.

All programmed up and working... Now if only Kenwood will get that firmware update out very soon to address a fix for the scanning issue on DMR channels "stopping on carrier activity instead of talk group activity"...

What version firmware are you running? There have been 2 updates in the last 3 months if I remember right. My NX5300 has been working good with the last June update.

It still lands on any DMR CAI activity. Even ldle, IPSC sync, data, etc. But it must not.

Well check your programming as I have it doing a POORMAN TRACKING (Scanning) A BUSY 4 SITE DMR TRUNKING SITE when I go to test also 2 one channel trunking sites and 3 Stand alone DRM repeaters.

Well check your programming and check what your radio doing when come across improper DMR transmission.

What version firmware are you running?

I believe my radio is currently running firmware version... 2.10?

I am not sure I see anything in that post that talks about "carrier and talk group activity" when scanning. With that last reply being very long, such very small font, and everything running together it made my eyes hurt and was very hard to read and follow along! Maybe the answer was in there but I sure couldn't find it in all that 'mess'.

The long post is how to program a NX radio including the use of lists, groups and ID's etc. If you are sitting in front of the cps it steps through how to program and how set up lists, groups etc. which was the original question to thread. As to the scanning of DMR, the only qualifiers are frequency and color code (I don't have the last firmware so not sure if any change). The radio will land on any channel that has matching frequency and color code regardless of talk group or timeslot. If the activity is on non matching talk group or timeslot the squelch will not open but radio will not resume scan until activity stops. With motorola and others, the scan doesn't stop unless ALL criteria are met (frequency, color code, talkgroup, timeslot).

Oh I see, now I understand what your reply and url link was about. I was thinking you were addressing the 'carrier and talk group activity issue' I mentioned, I wasn't thinking it was about the DMR programming, as I had stated in my reply "All programmed up and working" so I thought that was behind us.

Now in regard to the 'carrier and talk group activity issue' I sure hope that Kenwood will change it so that scan only stops when ALL criteria are met like Motorola and others are doing, as you mentioned. And I hope they do it very soon! Driving me nuts that I can't put it on scan and listen to all talk groups.
