**** BREAKING NEWS June 14, 2012 ****

The K1IFF Bristol CT repeater (449.975000) successfully linked to N4KEG/R in Lakeland, FL this morning. This is the first known amateur radio, internet-linked, interstate NXDN-based system made functional. The link functionality was made possible through the networking efforts and expertise of KD4EFM and WA1LMV, who held the first QSO between the two repeater systems at 1007 EDT today. Note that this link is only functional in the digital mode of the repeater, with RAN60. Stay tuned to this station for more details / k1iff

Icom linking

So where are all the Icom NXDN repeater guys :).... We have FLA, GA, and OH all linked at the moment, and the Icom software has room for 10 more :)... If anyone is interested in getting some more digital traffic on their repeaters let me know. Within reason, we can probably link you up.

In parallel, we are working to see how we might interoperate with Kenwood, seems they both use different linking. I'm talking Conventional multi-site linking here.

145.130(-), Norwich VT, iCOM iDAS, mixed analog / NXDN 6.25kHz mode.
Analog PL: 100.0Hz
iDAS (NXDN) RAN: 12
Callsign: N1CIV/R

We chose RAN 12 for 6.25 iDAS because of analog PL100.0 being tone #12 in the standard 38 CTCSS tone list. It makes it easy to remember both.

73,

Bad news.....This repeater needs to be removed from any NXDN repeater list(s). :( NXDN on this repeater is not going to happen any time soon. :( Priorities have shifted and the NXDN repeater originally planned to be used for this project had to be deployed somewhere else as part of a commercial system. :(

The 145.130(-) analog only repeater is on the air w/PL100.0.

That stinks! Does anyone plan to put up a 2 meter NXDN / IDAS in South Central PA?

Just a small change for one of the repeaters listed in the spreadsheet posted here. The Norwell, MA repeater changed frequencies from 145.250 to 145.390 a few months back. The Analog PL is now 67.0 in and out, RAN still 01.

Is there any weekly or weekend nets on the NXDN systems? I'll be on the Riverview, Florida 444.425 mhz system.

I dont see ham radio ever being forced to narrowband. Public safety and business band are "channelized", while ham radio is frequency agile. Part 90 users cant change channel if they are interferring with someone else, but a ham operator can.
As for ham repeaters, What is the difference between having 5 analog 2 meter repeaters not getting used and 10?

Remember, this is a hobby, so less rules is more flexibility to have the greatest number of people enjoy the hobby their way.

I have an ICOM FR6000, 2 channels, that I'd like to get on the air. I'll be using one channel for my business, but would like to utilize the other channel for ham use. Anyone in Michigan like to help? I'm in Eaton Rapids, just south of Lansing.

Get it on the air and come join the fun. We've got Atlanta, Tampa, Cleveland, Vancouver, Toronto and soon to be Hawaii on the Icom side of the nxdn network. Kenwood has Connecticut and Tampa with Texas in the works. We are also pretty close to bridging them via the IP protocol.

I agree with Alan...We have right now Tampa, Atlanta and British Columbia talking almost everyday to each other. I'm one of the regulars on the local Tampa/Riverview NXDN repeater system for my area.

I just sent an email and awaiting response from one of the guys who runs one of the NXDN sites here in the Tampa/Riverview area and see what he says how you can link up to Tampa/Riverview system.
