Would it be beneficial for me to upgrade my sds100 with NXDN or DMR in Camden county? I see Pasquotank used NXDN and some surrounding groups/agencies according to this website: NXDN Frequency Search Results

I think NCDOC uses some NXDN as well. Would it be worth it to me?

I have both in mine and I think uniden has the Nxdn down pat. How ever with the dmr system I listen to my whistler does better plus it depends on what is around you on dmr

Neither of those agencies use NXDN or DMR, they are on the Viper P25 system. As for NCDOC, yes they do use NXDN but if you are more than a mile or so away there is little chance of hearing them as it is a low powered system for use in the prison.

There are some federal agencies using DMR, like the USPS sorting facilities, but it is mostly used by businesses and some local governments. Please keep in mind, the website you listed in your first post is a great source of information, however it is taken right from the FCC files, not what is actually in use. A local college here in Raleigh was listed in that site as being DMR for about two years before they actually made the switch. That is the advantage of the RR database, submissions there are supposed to be verified by listeners, not based on just FCC records.

That said, if you can afford to add it you should, it is better to have it already installed rather than finding you need it and not having it.

That’s kinda my mindset as well and I’ll definitely end up getting both. I wasn’t sure which one may be of more use initially. Can’t believe the sites that are being used by local law enforcement agencies. One is in the mountains I believe. I’m not at home but I know it’s a solid 4 hour drive. These are sites I was able to search and pick up. I just wonder what else I’m missing.

In addition to the link the OP posted, are the results from a search on www.digitalfrequencysearch.com also derived from the FCC?

Yes, the results of NXDN and DMR searches from digitalfrequencysearch.com are only raw data listings from the FCC database of licenses showing authorization for those modes. Those results do not necessarily mean that those modes are currently in use by those licensees, or ever will be.
