Here's a couple of tricks I use to ID a system.
My '536 shows what type of system "CAP" etc, and also the RAN. MOST of the time (all?) the RAN is the same as a site number in a multiple-site system. It also shows the system number as 241. I had recorded this frequency also with a RAN of 12, WIth those clues, we can search in MO to see if the frequency has been reported before. Doing so in your general area brings up the Bass Pro Shops using that freq, but it does not show in red so it is not a control channel. Also Bass Pro uses RAN 1 so no go. Grrr.
BUT, sInce you're close to AR, run the same search, and voila the Smith system shows up, and sure enough site 12 (RAN 12) has this freq as a control channel.
I personally find this sort of "digging out" of info as fun.
You could also have searched for the system ID 241 (entering it as DECimal, not HEXadecimal) and it would have gotten you to the same Smith system.
Your next assignment :) is to record Talkgroups and figure what sort of business uses them. You can also keep track of what Radio IDs (Unit IDs) show up on what Talkgroups, and see if they show up on more than 1 TG. TG 16 and 18 have some of the same RIDs o them, so if you figure our one, you'll also get the 2nd. ("Go to 2" - etc) Once you get a few new TGs ID's make a submission so others can see them.
