I find the multi-site repeater wide area systems to be most active. I recall one in Indy covered a couple of states. Memory is rusty; is it 146.85?

Do you have any recommendations for repeaters in the NY/NJ/DC area? I will be visiting the north-east of the US (NY/NJ/VI/WV/NC/DE/DC) in july and would like to use some wide-area repeaters from the rental RV and the Manhattan hotel.

I will also program the 146.52/55/58 simplex frequencies in the rig. Any recoomendations for the equivalent 446 ones?

Wirelessly posted (Moto Droid Bionic: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.1.2; en-us; DROID BIONIC Build/9.8.2O-72_VZW-22) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30)

Bob, the K3KZ and W3BXW widearea systems cover most of NJ, south of NYC, to just shy of DC including DE, eMD, and much of ePA from the Poconos south to Phila and southwest to the Harrisburg/York areas. Does that help?

I've lost track of repeater systems in NYC, as I don't go go there except under duress. I have links to coordinator web sites on W2XQ.com if that helps.

Thanks, nice list! I will program these into the mobiel rig and HT and I can always scan for others if needed.

Unfortunatelly no VI, indeed VA. ;)

Noticed you wrote PC5E/W4, I thought is should be W4/PC5E (at least the CEPT docs say "prefix"). Is this how the FCC requires the foreign callsigns?

You're right, Robert. Visiting canadian ops sign call/W_; Others W_/call. NY/NJ is W2; MD, DC, DE, PA is W3; VA, NC & the rest of the southeast is W4. You probably knew that though.

Steve, thanks for clearing that up for me. And yes, the call sign region were known to me, found a nice little map on the itnernet which I intend to bring along. It seems some OM's don;t like visitors to use the wrong one, ;)
