Hello All:

I work for a merchant marine steamship line based in the port of newark NJ. i am new to scanning so i figured i can try to find the frequencies for the Port of New York and New Jersey. I want to know when my ship arrives and comes into port. or when the Pilot reaches the Ambrose station for the various carriers such as Yang Ming Line, Hyundai Merchant Marine, PONL, Maersk Line, China Shipping, NYK Line, MOL Line, COSCO Line, Evergreen Line, NSCSA Line, etc...

Rico,

I would say that a sure way to know when the ships come into (and out of) port is to monitor the Harbor Pilot's channel (if you use them there). Here in south Florida they use marine channel 12 and 14 to communicate with the ships. During that conversation, they usually state the time that the pilot will board the ship on the way in to port. The Harbor Pilots also have their own UHF business repeater.
