NYC DCAS PD

I apologize in advance for the lack of information in the post, But...

I happened to see some NYC DCAS PD officers today sporting brand new XPR7580 radios with the plastic still on the screen. I did hear MDC1200 (could’ve been from someone carrying an NYPD Portable) so I’m assuming they are operating on conventional frequencies. Are they operating on new 800 frequencies? I remember them being on the DoITT UHF and DoITT 800 system.

They have a talkgroup on the P25 system and I always hear them talking on there, I'm not sure.

EDIT: I forgot that they're now marketing those radios as 7580e

a while ago they were on the DOITT 700 MHz system, I'm not sure if they are still on. It's been a while since I searched for new talk groups on that system.

The XPR7550/7580 and APX900 looks almost identical from a distance, the XPR is not compatible with P25, but APX900 is.

From what I know they are using APX4000 7/800mhz two knob radios.

Which basically looks like the XPR 7xxx series, and from a distance they could easily be mistaken for each other.

Confirmed today they are APX900s

Then they are also using the APX4000’s as well, because I saw them in use on Friday near city hall.
