NYC Dept of Health Drill

City ran what it called the largest public health drill to date. They wanted to set up "POD's" or Points of Distribution to combat an infectious out break. Results were mixed. But the DOITT 800 system was alive with new talk groups with DOH comms. Including : 10880 [POD control}, 12128, 12176, 12192, 12224, 12240, and 10464. All were coordination channels for deliveries of POD equipment and medications.

I also logged 12112, 12144, 12160 and 12288.

This isn't the first time DOITT has come up with new talk group assignments on the 800 system. Just reciently the T&LC started operating with new P25 TGs. It seams like this system which was not originally set up for portable radio coverage keeps getting a new shot of life. The UHF system has much better coverage and the 700 system is on its way.
Well i'll add these TGs to my DOH bank bcause Ebola is comming!

Including : 10880 [POD control}, 12128, 12176, 12192, 12224, 12240, and 10464.

10464 is assigned to the Department of Homeless Services. Use of their talkgroup during an outbreak makes sense considering the population they serve. All of the 12xxx talkgroups are new to me. They're being in OEM's old bloc is interesting as to who's talkgroups (OEM vs DoH) they actually are.

Guess what? FAUX News was wrong. No Ebola, just irrational fear of the unknown.

The key words were "because he has symptoms that indicate they may have Ebola". There are many symptoms that can be indicative of several diseases, fatal and non-fatal. It is better to be careful and not be true than the other way around.
