Hello all-- Name here is Skyler, KC2WYP, newly licensed.

I monitor the LIMARC frequency and (will soon be) a member of that group. I also listen to the N2VQ, KQ2H, and some other repeaters that aren't as active. Does anyone have any suggestions to more "active" repeaters that you enjoy??

Thanks!
(Yes, I have looked on google for repeaters, but that doesn't tell you if they are active!)

Check out:
  • N2ION *[447.925-, PL 114.8]
  • WB2HWW [440.7+, PL 114.8 input only]
  • KB2BWV (Nassau County ARES) [443.5250+, PL 114.8]
These seem to be the most active around here. These repeaters also have great coverage in the area, but are somewhat underutilized:
  • W2EJ [441.25, PL 107.2]
  • AA2UC [443.8+, PL 141.3]
  • NC2PD [444.875+, PL 179.9] <-- This one is run by the Nassau County Police ARC!
Oh, and if you have UHF P25, shout out your call on 446.0, we may run into each other some day.

Welcome to the hobby!

Note: N2ION is linked to a repeater with call K2SGT in our area. This repeater's antenna is on the same tower as some sort of beacon, making for almost constant interference when using the repeater. But, it is still a nice machine that can be used all the way from Connecticut.

I use N2ION, NCARES, and N2CPD... Don't get that much interference on N2ION.

And nah, no P25 right now :)

BTW may I ask: What is your call?

You may wanna reconsider the WB2HWW 440.700 It's a CB Like repeater in NYC Queens. The regular bunch of cronies that operate are extremely unfriendly and very clickish!
It sounds more like a group of good-buddies that migrated from channel 19 on 11 meters. They consistently bash fellow ham operators and make fun of the less fortunate ones that just wanna blend into hamradio. It's sad how the repeater owner allows this type of operation.
