There appears to be some re-programming taking place as we speak. All City of Poughkeepsie PD vehicles are being re-programmed . Anyone have any ideas ?

As a matter of fact I was talking to a NYCOMCO guy yesterday about thier trunking system, He said that they are in the process of rebanding their 800mhz EDACS system due to the NEXTEL rebanding. Their UHF LTR system is going to remain the same.

I thought rebanding was only going to change Motorola trunk systems and not have any effect on EDACS and LTR systems???? Ray

390,

"Rebanding" describes the process of the shifting of users of frequencies in the 800 MHz band (who are currently intermingled) to seperate away two-way systems (moving toward the lower end of the band) from wireless telephone systems (moving toward the upper end of the band), in an effort to prevent wireless telephone systems (namely NexTels) from interfering with two-way radio systems. The changes will effect many two-way systems, regardless of whether or not the systems are conventional or Motorola, EDACS, or EFJohnson LTR trunked; digital or analog; in the clear or encrypted.

There are some new frequencies in the FCC database:

Illinois WPCZ329: 857.0375 and 858.6375 MHz.

Beacon WNVP298: 854.1375 and 859.6125 MHz.

EDACS reprogram

This is a two stage re-programming. The first stage is pretty much completed. I would expect to see some effects within the next week or two. Dropped transmissions (fails to follow the trunk etc) would be the first signs. I believe I may have detected some of those already.

EDACS - Poughkeepsie -Illinois Twr

If I am correct the re-banding only effects 860 up. If this is true then there would be a need to replace 3 frequencies in the present LCN for Illinois Twr. I tend to doubt that they would drop a frequency and lessen their channel load capabilities. So if the two frequencies listed are indeed replacements then there still is a missing frequency. Anyone running e-trunker ????

EDACS- Almost I think

I think there still is a missing freq. on the Illinois twr. I've tried your list Paul and it IS working however there still seems to be some missed transmissions. I have it going in both a 396 and a 780. Both are behaving the same way. I'll give it a few days and see what happens.

Channel numbering was determined with the help of Etrunk. Other methods are way too tedious and produce wrong results half the time.

Note that 859.1875 is off line on Beacon at the moment. Things may not be going smoothly for NYCOMCO.

Graham and Arden are not receivable here. Most of their frequencies are above 866 and will shift down by 15 MHz to the 851-854 range. That's why the other four sites vacated 851-854. I have not seen any new license listings for Orange county or NYCOMCO in the 851-854 range. NEXTEL does hold licenses for many of those frequencies and they have to move before Graham and Arden can be rebanded.
