Anyone hear if train crew radio system for NYC Transit switching to the vacated VHF old trains it police repeaters

The current radio repeaters are crowded with traffic

And do you know if they are still using ICOM radios

I've seen a mix of icom and Vertex radios. Not sure about them switching over to the deprecated VHF Transit PD repeaters.

They have been issuing VX-824 radios to new RTO employees. I guess the TA bought a ton of them since they are no longer in production.
