Hello all. I live in nassau and want to start listening to the Big Apple more often

I have all of FDNY Boroughs along with HT4-8, EMERGENCY, and Fireboat Ops.
FDNY EMS Citywide
A few NYPD frequencies that border Nassau, but also SOD, Tac H and J, Traffic. Is there a highway frequency for NYPD?

What else should i put in besides every single precinct, etc. You get my drift--the "good frequencies"

Thanks.

NYPD & FDNY frequencies

Check the RR database as it's pretty accurate, also check the databases for www.n2nov.net www.w2lie.net & Suffolk County Scanning Plus - Home

I don't know how you are going to program your scanner, but when I was living in the Big Apple, out of ten, 20 channel banks: #1 was for NYPD, FDNY & NYC EMS Citywide, banks #2 to #6 where for NYPD, FDNY, NYC EMS & NYCHPD Brooklyn, Queens, Richmond, Manhattan & the Bronx respectively, #7 was for NYCTA trains & PD #8 was for Amtrak, Conrail, LIRR, MNCRR, PATH & NJT trains & PD #9 was for the big three airports & NY Center. #10 was open for catch all & newly discovered frequencies. Be warned, if you attempt to listen to all the frequencies of all those services in the entire city at one time, you will miss a lot, try working CTW & your boro first to acclimate yourself to the daily & even hourly traffic trends, when they peak & ebb. You are going to have a lot of fun, just sit back & enjoy.

What is CWR?

And also what is SI in front of CW1, CW2, CW3, SOD... does that mean Stat. Island. SOD?

I am just looking for generally good listening frequencies, not specific to the precinct.

And what is a good frequency for the MTA Bridge and Tunnel? 453.550 like you said? (Is this an MTA frequency or NYPD.)

Also what is a good transit bureau frequency? 471.0875?

ah gotcha.

ok so that 453.550 frequency is labeled as wide area repeater for MTA.

Also for transit bureau should i put Div 1 and Div 2 in? Are they active?

ANd what about 471.0875.. under "Manhattan" in the database that frequency is labeled as transit.

Last one... 155.76 is Manhattan MTA police... this worth while?

so there is CW frequencies just for "SI"

please elaborate.

And "si SOD...?"

The "SI" frequencies are simulcasts of their non-SI counterparts. You will hear the same thing on both if you are within range. The "SI" repeaters are for better reception on Staten Island due to its location and terrain.

NYPD Transit is on VHF, 471.0875 is the uhf frequency linked to 160.9050 and you'll only hear the dispatcher. (system under work)

but the orginal vhf are good since you hear both the officer and the dispatcher (central)

NYPD TD CW 160.6950
NYPD TD 1/2/4 160.9050
NYPD TD 3/11/12 160.5000
NYPD TD 20/23/33 160.9650
NYPD TD 30/32/34 160.3050

MTA transit system

MTA IND 161.5650
MTA BMT 161.5050
MTA IRT 161.1900
MTA POLICE 155.7600
