Can someone chime in as to how FDNY EMS dispatchers are able to identify their units with open carriers and advise them to check their radios but NYPD central dispatchers can't? From what I'm told a radio tech has to go pull up the info. Maybe that can fix that issue.

I know the computers cars in the NYPD are usually down but do you think it's possible for NYPD to implement a system like that? I mean their radio coverage is phenomenal but the open carrier madness drives me insane.
