“We currently have one city-wide repeated frequency, two point to point frequencies and just acquired a third point to point encrypted frequency.”

Obviously the repeated freq is SOD Citywide (470.8375) and I presume the two simplex frequencies are Tac G (473.6875) and Tac H (473.7125), but what is the encrypted simplex freq? Is it one of their few P-25E frequencies?

Citywide 4 has the ability to go p25 encrypted, internal affairs, OCCB, narcotics, etc...

Copy that, thanks. The article wasn't referring to any of those frequencies because those are repeated. Have you ever heard encryption on the Tac simplex frequencies? Is it even possible to encrypt an analog simplex freq?

Also, what freq does ATT use when doing pre-planned operations? Same question for other pre-planned coverage events like the upcoming Thanksgiving parade. Does ESU use the standard (repeated) freq assigned to the event? Do they use Tac G? Also, are the hundreds of officers on scene on the same citywide event frequency or do they use a Tac frequency and keep the repeated frequency open for supervisors?

I've been meaning to ask about this. Listening to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on CTW1, 2 and 3, I heard TARU portable ask for a radio check on CTW3, then whether he was on the right frequency for the parade. The dispatcher said no, and looked to find out which frequencies the parade was on. This is what she said:

CTW1 is obvious, but what is 9MIC2? Maybe it's 9MAC2? In the next transmission, she says "it's another frequency they just opened." I don't know if that means it is a new frequency just put in service or if it was just starting to be used for the parade detail. Also, she calls CTW3 "Citywide Track Number Three." What do they call it that?

thats it, if you hear something like that, i've seen in official state docs apparently the radio pronunciation for NY labeled stuff is "nye" so NYLAW1 would be "nye-law-one"

All precinct units are transmitting analog. There are some specialized citywide frequencies operating p25 digital.

The radios themselves are capable of both analog and P25. The majority of NYPD channels are analog, with some P25 as noted in the database.

Citywide 4 has been operating lately in analog mode, however over the summer it was operating in p25 E mode. The other channels listed in the database as E have been verified as full-time encryption.

Hearing CW4 in use a lot more lately, including for operational transmissions, not just the standard CW simulcast jobs. Some kind of special team of officers (maybe a stolen car task force) using it? Heard Aviation using it to go 98 today on it a few times, which is usually done either on SOD or on division. Anyone know more?

i beg to differ. also the Mirrored zones in select APX900s in the field encryption works over CW4, as well as Detective Citywide 2. I’ve seen some that work and some that won’t work. Citywide 4 has consistently switched between p25 and analog due to the recent spike in car chases going borough to borough. I have about 20 minutes of audio from a pursuit that spilled into the Bronx from Queens over CW4. The voters also don’t mute the MDC like almost all other zones do.

Is Citywide 4 used for pursuits? I was wondering because I heard Aviation on CW4 recently, which I thought was unusual.

CW4 is usually used when doing joint operations with outside agencies… do note 1 thing.. CW4 DOES NOT mute MDC automatically at comparator level like most other nypd channels

As of Midnight 00:00 Today Citywide 4 is now fully E once again per communications. Also noticed the Fleet Services Division is now broadcasting jobs.
