The NYPD is so desperate to get people to work for $25,100 a year, they've resorted to this. Way to go, Ray Kelly!

Not for 25k a year base salary. Even with OT and extra jobs, you can't afford a decent life style in the city. That's why everyone gets hired there, certified, then off to another department at 3x the pay.

Compare what a cop on 1 side of 42 & 8 makes vs. a cop on the other side makes

Port,

Funny, the NYCPD posts it's complete pay scale on it's web site but the Port Authority doesn't; I guess the PAPD doesn't want to embarrass anybody. The best I could find is http://www.panynj.gov/pr/pressrelease.php3?id=251 (see the fourth paragraph. Remember these are their 2002 base numbers and they were already ahead of the NYCPD's top 2006 pay scale by $10,756). But forget the base pays. Scroll down to paragraphs four and five at http://www.tkb.org/NewsStory.jsp?storyID=121234 and compare those numbers to the numbers the NYPD throws at you at the bottom of the link PortCop offered above. Those are the numbers that really count.

G-d bless the PAPBA.

Keep up the great work, PortCop.
