Do all NYPD frequencies transmit with the same power and from the same location within each borough? I noticed a lot of variation in reception. For example, I was trying to listen to Brooklyn PCT 75 on 476.9875 and my reception is very weak, yet other Brooklyn frequencies come in loud and clear. Why is that?

No, each borough has their own site (I believe two sites per borough). Some sites are shared between boroughs too. The power level depends on the height and frequency used.

Each precient frequency is usually transmitted from within that precient's area. ei: 109, 107, 111 are all transmitted from the Osman house on Francis Lewis Blvd and Northern Blvd. In Manhattan on New York Hospital the 3 surrounding precients and a City Wide transmitter are located there. The reasoning being, that the coverage is needed in that area including inside buildings, not an area wide signal.

I have a Radio Shack Model Pro-2026 & it works great, except one minor glitch. I have programmed "Zone 31 104-112 476.7125" no PL code, I receive NYC TV Channel 5, when there is no trasmission on the freq., the squelch seems not to work on this freq.
Anybody has any suggestion or solution?.

The 2026 IF is 21.4 or 21.6 ( I'm too lazy to look it up, I still use this radio) so add 476.712 to one of these (= 498.112 or 498.312) and you can maybe hear NYPD without channel 5 inteference.

To use the "image" frequency for reception you would need to add or subtract TWICE the IF frequency depending on whether the LO is above or below the signal frequency. What you suggest will not work.
I suspect the problem may be leakage from a CATV system since the over-the-air TV signal would now be digital. If you are hearing analog TV audio it must be from CATV distribution.

It worked, it's 21.6, a little staticky, but beats the annoying sound of Ch. 5 Fox channel in NYC all day long. I live nearby the 104 Pct, therefore the tower must be close by.

If adding 21.6 works then the IF frequency is 10.8, not 21.4.
Since Channel 5 is digital, you would only get noise from an OTA broadcast. You must be hearing cable leakage unless there is an analog translator station still rebroadcasting it.
I think I understand what you are hearing and why that fixes it.
With a 10.8 IF and receiver LO on the low side of the signal frequency the image of 476.7125 would be 476.7125 -21.6= 455.1125. The 455-456 frequencies ares Broadcast remote pickup used to cue the stations remote trucks so they likely are running their audio over the 455.1125.
Adding 21.6 to the receive frequency moves the LO to the high side and eliminates the 455 Mhz image.
