Random technical question. How come when I'm down in the subway the transmissions sometimes have a long beep at the beginning and always a strange static burst at the end. When topside this is not heard.

Maybe it has something to do with the underground repeaters?

Yeah probably. I'm assuming the cops don't hear it in their radios. It would get pretty annoying.
