Hello. I have been wondering something and I hope that this is not a stupid question. I see that the NYSP use the PL tone of 79.7 & also 110.9 along with their frequency of 155.565

My question is, where did the 79.7 PL tone come from.

It seems that with everyother NYSP frequency the PL tone of 110.9, 127.3, 146.2, 167.9 & 192.8 is used. 155.565 seems to be the only one that uses the PL tone of 79.7. How come the NYSP did not stick with one PL tone for use with the frequency 155.565 such as using 110.9 which I see is used with 154.665 & 154.695. I know that Troop PL tones are 127.3, 146.2, 167.9 & 192.8. So why did the NYSP simply use 110.9 along with every frequency other than Troop frequencies.

Just wondering, hope I did not ask a stupid question, just trying to learn. I'am fairly new at this.

Thanks all

Hey Critter - who knows why they did it. I program the freq in twice with both of the pl tones -- only because when I travel to other areas I have seen both used! Syracuse, NY area is one of them.

Thank you for your response. I was just curius as to why this only happened with 155.565

So you said that you put 155.565 in your scanner twice, good idea I never thought of that. I will have to give that a try.

Thanks again.

Tomorrow is Monday again darn it all, back to work.

I was told that 155.565 P/L 110 is State Police frequency-4 and that 155.565 P/L 79.7 was BCI - Tactical. ( F-Troop )I know it doesn't make sense but if its a fact I couldn't really say for sure., I have heard traffic on both. So I also have them both programmed in my scanners......Ray

155.565 both PL's

After hearing from 2 people on this subject that I started I have decided that 155.565 (79.7 PL) & 155.565 (110.9 PL) in my scanner will work just fine.

Thanks for all your help and hopefully after some time of learning this great hobby I can help people out with their questions just like you have helped me out.

Premimum membership

One more question. What does everbody think of upgrading to the premimum membership. I have been considering doing just that, however I was wondering what some people who are currently premimum members think of the premimum membership.

Thanks a bunch

I have deleted those posts of yours that dealt with the off topic posts of others.

To those others:
Only one person did the right thing (reporting the thread) and then screwed up also by commenting in the thread. I will remind you that none of you are not a moderator and have no way of checking your suspicions; suspicions that apparently are not backed up by any evidence available to me.

NYSP's 155.565 (79.7 PL)

It's been a while, but I think the PL of 79.7 was once used for a supervisor's vehicle repeater. (Or something such as that) Like I said...that was a long time ago and my memory is a bit fuzzy on this. Some of the older NYSP radios still have the 79.7 PL in 'em.
