Seeing how my original thread has been inactive for a while and now locked, I guess I gotta start a new thread.

Just found this bad boy in the application database!..... Sites for Troop B

Continuation of the applications to build out a 700/800 P25 TRS for NYSP, this time not in a metro area.

....I wonder what they are doing?!.... lol
My guess would a small system for large events just at/around Whiteface Mountain...still a very large winter sport venue many years after the Lake Placid Winter Olympics

Some of you are missing the inside joke/sarcasm.

Anyway, the NYSP are indeed planning to build a "statewide" 700/800 MHz TDMA P25 system (not to be confused with the new Thruway system). At present, the sites are being built out on the existing L3Harris F63 core (Metro-25 or 21 (depending on who you ask) system). The first site to be built out upstate was the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse. The second site that was licensed was in Buffalo (not on the air yet, @ak716?), and now this site licensed on Whiteface Mtn.

I wouldn't take the word "statewide" too literal in this instance. The plan seems to be to gradually build out sites in locations that support the need for the SP to operate on multiple trunked talkgroups vs conventional channels, rather than a true wall-to-wall statewide system which would cost an exorbitant amount of money and is unrealistic (especially given the coverage provided by existing county systems throughout the state).
