NZ SD Card Program

Now I'm getting a little familiar with programming my USDS100 I thought I would attempt to create a NZ wide program.
I would probably never use it fully but thought it may be an interesting exercise.
Has anyone done this yet?

So far I've got the South Island done.
I used ProScan to create the program.
Initially set up the format with available data from the RR database, then updated/corrected it from the Wiki.
Not a five-minute job.
I'm heading up to Canterbury next month, so will be able to check out some of that area.

Hi Rocky, I've just obtained a Uniden USDS100 from TradeMe. I live in Auckland and am wondering how you are getting along with your NZ-wide database. I tried getting ProScan but my firewall kept blocking it from website block to install block so I found BuTel Basic and successfully installed it. No problem so went ahead and bought Basic version. I informed ProScan owner of problem with Eset security and they are looking into it. Have you done the North Island frequencies? Cheers.

Yes, I've done the whole of NZ.
But it's only what is available on RR & Wiki.
So without going to all the individual areas and trying it, I don't know accurate or up to date it will be.
The Wiki is the more accurate.
With ProScan you can import the systems in your area from RR & then compare them with the Wiki.
You can then edit them accordingly.

Hi Rocky, any chance of getting copy of your file and can I import it into ARC536 Butel? Thank you. One other thing, the guy I got radio from has a nice large collection of frequencies for areas he went to so my question is how can I delete all these and start with a fresh set of frequencies?

I think I would be saving all those frequencies on the radio for future reference.
Copy them to a folder on your computer.
Then you can clear the radio if you wish.
But when you copy a new program to it, you will have the option to overwrite anyway.

I'm not familiar with ARC536 so can't advise on that.
You should be able to install ProScan if you create an exception in the firewall.
I'm sure if you do a search on this forum you will find a way to do that.

Re program files:
You can import them directly from RR same as I did.
Just select the ones you want.
Save it to a file & write it to your radio.
If you're anything like me you'll do it half a dozen times before you get it the way you want.
Be no fun if you got it right first time.

Hi Rocky, If I donated $50 NZD to you would you gift me your NZ file? Alternatively, you mentioned joining Radio Reference so is it really easy to copy files over from there to my radio? Cheers, John :=P

Use your dollars for a subscription on RR.
You will need that to import from there.
Not sure if you can import to ARC536, I'm not familiar with that program.
Proscan is my preferred option.
You can even control your radio remotely from a Proscan window.
It is real easy, once you get the hang of it.

For each area, I create a favorites list.
An example being

FO1 Aviation
FO2 Business
FO3 Amateur
FO4 Local Body
FO5 Marine
FO6 Other
FO7 Public Safety
FO8 Railways

Then import into those favorites from RR.
The RR database is not up to date for a lot of NZ, thats where you use the Wiki.
You can't import from the Wiki, but you can use the info to update or edit your program.
