Hearing some field testing this morning in the Oak Lawn area on Site 1-02. Talk groups being used so far, 36961 (Channel 1), 36962 (Channel 2), 36963 (Channel 3). The channel ID's were from the users but unknown who the actual users will be at this time. Radio ID's so far are in the 1782xx series. Based upon the conversations, it appears these are Oak Lawn PD units who probably were given Starcom radios to test. Heard mention of "322 to 311"...etc.

It's been previously reported that Talk Group 36964 was used and identified as (Channel 4). Those not familiar with Oak Lawn Central, they dispatch police for Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Bridgeview and Burbank. They dispatch for numerous fire departments in the Division 21 MABAS area. I don't know if Fire Departments will be switching to Starcom or their VHF 155.5575 will have a patch to Starcom. All channels mentioned are in the clear.

In addition to these talk groups, Oak Lawn units were heard testing on District 15-South and District-Chicago Priority/ISPERN patch.

Unknown if other departments on Net-6 (470.4625) or Net-10 (470.5875) will be switching?

I heard that Merrionette Park PD (Net-6) has already switched to SC21, using the ENC Cook Co node. Hometown (also Net-6) is supposedly set to do the same.

That is correct about Marionette Park. They had to consolidate with someone for their 9-1-1 service and they have been using Cook County Sheriff. Hometown is dispatched by Hickory Hills on Net-6 while Hickory Hills dispatches their PD on Net-10. I wouldn't be surprised to see them using Starcom soon. Bedford Park dispatches for Summit on Net-10 and Oak Lawn Central dispatches their fire. You need a chalk board to keep up with all this!

I forgot to mention Alsip PD and FD are dispatched by Oak Lawn Central as well.

It was active again today with different radios in the 1780xx range that were keying up, but very few conversations. Talk groups that were active: 36961, 36962, 36963, 36964, 36965, 36966, 36967, 36968. All P25/Phase 1 and none were encrypted.

Very active today. Consoles at the OLREC (Oak Lawn Regional Emergency Communications) were testing on TGID's 36961-36967 and Radio ID's 178490-494, also heard them on 178319-321. Emergency button activation's were being tested through different portables. Oak Lawn units were heard using Radio ID's 1780xx and 1782xx series. All activity Phase 1 and non-encrypted via Site 1-002.

"All units that are on Starcom can test between yourselves". I guess the afternoon shift doesn't want to play...lol!

Alsip PD heard today using Radio ID's in the 1785xx series and identified themselves by radio call signs used on Net-6 (700 series) and identified the channels "testing on OLREC-12"(TGID 36972), "switch to OLREC-5 " (TGID 36965), "now switch to 6" (TGID 36966). Oak Lawn Central answered on OLREC-1 (TGID 36961).."Central 795, testing on OLREC-1", and was acknowledged by Oak Lawn Central on Radio ID 178490.

Additional testing today...1780xx and 1781xx Radio ID's were testing emergency button activation on OLREC-1. Sounded like a training session. Oak Lawn Central (RID 178490) acknowledged the emergency activation's.

The scheduled "testing" turned out to be a good thing. Net-6 (470.4625) went down and Oak Lawn Central asked all departments they dispatch for "do all of your units have Starcom radios". Those units that didn't were sent in to the station to pick one up. Currently all dispatch operations are on OLREC-1 (TG 36961). It's probably temporary but a good test nonetheless.

As scannerjunkie posted, dispatching is still occurring on Starcom. I've been taking notes on Radio ID's and as I previously reported: 178001-178100 (Evergreen Park PD), 178201-178299 (Oak Lawn PD) 178501-178599 (Alsip PD).

Other Radio ID's to note: 178490-178494 (Oak Lawn Regional Emergency Communications Dispatch Consoles..OLREC). 178319-178321 (OLREC Admin portables).

Confirmed "Evergreen-3" on TG 36968.

TG 36964...might have seen some encryption but can't confirm. TG 36972..Saw some Alsip PD "key-ups" but can't call it yet as "Alsip-3". Previous notes I took during testing, Oak Lawn PD called TG 36963 as "Let's go to 3", but can't confirm this to be the case yet.

I've been monitoring Net-6 (470.4625 CTCSS 141.3) all day and it has been silent. It would appear testing day turned into switchover day, but now I can add this to the things that make me go hmm  .

First dispatch was a shoplifter at Family Dollar in Evergreen Park at 1008 Hrs...(y)

Yes they were testing with Alsip 701 and as you said, Oak Lawn Central was unreadable...very loud screech. "Testing on the back-up" is what I was able to pull out of that. We'll have to see if this is a permanent switch over.
