With 31 radio sites planned for this new Phase II simulcast cell, it will be interesting to see how this all unfolds over the next three years.

Looks like they are fully joining the MPSCS. Congrats to Oakland County on doing the right thing this time around!

"Implementing the complete ASTRO® 25 land-mobile radio (LMR) network will take up to three years. Over the next six months, Oakland County and Motorola Solutions will work together to design the 31-site system to submit to MPSCS for review."

I have a feeling there maybe more than one simulcast cell deployed in Oakland County. For instance, we might be looking at 31÷3 = three simulcast cells. While this is only a hypothesis, it's possible they may do this. We'll have to wait and see what Motorola proposes to the MPSCS, but since this is going to be the first Phase II sites on the MPSCS, purchasing new scanners will be necessary down the road.

It sounds like an excessive number of towers, by about 10 to 12.

I am happy that they are, finally, joining MPSCS.

From a reliable source, this will be a 31-site single simulcast cell. However, it will be the first Phase II system deployed on the MPSCS. More than likely, all of the neighboring sites will be upgraded to Phase II for roaming purposes as well.

Looks like the hell finally froze over and Oak is joining MPSCS.

Can't believe that I missed this news until now.

For once I'm looking forward to the new system and the way it will be integrated.
