Is it possible to hear communication from the helicopter? I've used the broadcasting site to listen to dispatch. But it would be nice to hear what's going on down the block when the spot light is circling.

Thanks in advance!

The OPD copter's call sign is Argus. You should hear them on the various patrol dispatch channels. You can also hear them when the come to/from Oakland Airport on 118.3.

I own a Radio Shack 164. But, It's been in the garage for years since it's obsolete. Since then, I've just used the internet stream on Broadcastify.com. What type of scanner/model would be ideal to purchase. Hopefully without putting a dent in the wallet. Thanks!

If you are not going mobile you could possibly get away with a 996P2 but I really like the SDS 100/200 for the EBRCS. They have become my go to radios unless I am in San Francisco proper then any trunk tracker works fine on their system. .

I used to live in the Oakland hills. I moved out the state about a year and a half ago. I had a HP-1 in my vehicle, BCD396XT, 996XT and a pro-106. These are older radios, but all had issues receiving Oakland simulcast. The Pro-106 worked the best, but still hit miss. I would recommend the SDS series, but it might put a dent in the wallet.
