After finally installing my antenna outdoors, it seems like my handheld PRO-60 is a bit more sensitive than my PRO-2055, at least in the UHF Milair band. I have a Radio Shack 20-176 antenna mounted about 30 feet in the air. I cut the vertical and horizontal elements to a length of 9.25" to correspond with the middle of the MilAir band. From the antenna, I am using a 25' length of RG-6 Quad Shield Cable (before the debate begins, I know its 75 ohm) into a grounding block. From the grounding block is a 50' length of RG-6 Quad Shield cable to my scanner.

When I hooked up the PRO-60 and started scanning through the Cleveland Center (ZOB) UHF Freqs, I was kind of surprised when it stopped on 338.35 (ZOB-Wayland RCAG) and 307.15 (ZOB-Warren RCAG) and was picking up the ZOB air traffic controller. The transmissions were clear and easily readable.

When I hooked up the PRO-2055, it did not pick up on the transmissions. I manually tuned in 338.35 since it was the busiest and fully opened the squelch. It was barely picking up the transmissions, they were audible but filled with static.

I really like my 2055, but I was really surprised by my 60's performance, the old girl still has it....

Your results may vary,
Dave

Try using the attenuator on those VHF air channels...actually, all VHF channels. GRE receivers are notorious for desensing in the VHF range when connected to a good base antenna. I have exactly the same issue with my Pro 97 and using the ATT button allows me to receive VHF with good sensitivity.
