I'm hearing another EMS agency dispatching on Ocean County EMS-1, with the 186.2 Hz PL tone. They just dispatched Squad 85 and it is their 3rd request. I have a recording of it, click here. On my list, Squad 85 is the Berkeley Emergency Response Team. It's comming in too weak to be comming from Berkeley or Toms River, so I know this can't be something from the county. Anyone know who this is? BTW, there's heavy tropo tonight.

Squad 85 is Great Bay Regional EMS Squad, which covers Little Egg Harbor Twp., Tuckerton Boro, and, I believe, Eagleswood Twp. Berkeley Emergency Response Team is STATION 85.

You're right about all of those towns, DJ. Add Bass River Twp in Burlington County to the list as well.

Sorry about that, I never heard them before so I didn't know about them. Are they using a 2+2 paging format?

They use QC II. You may hear more than 1 set of tones because they are dispatched on the Tuckerton tower and on the Barnegat tower (I think). Also, for 2nd calls the duty and all-call tones are hit out.

Thanks. Is Squad 85 hit out often? I never heard them before and I can pick up the Squad 11 being dispatched from the Barnegat tower very clear.

They are usually very busy. When I rode for them we didn't often go a 6 hour shift without getting at least 2 calls. In addition to covering 4 different towns they also cover about 20 miles of the Garden State Parkway.

It's odd I never hear anything from them. I get a pretty strong signal from the LBI VHF system.

high band dispatch?

I will only be passing through this weekend and don't want to punch in all the trunked system data. I just don't get through there much any more.

Are they still using high band at least for dispatch, or better yet, do they still use their old high band freqs for working incidents or as patches from the trunked system so that volleys can hear?

Thanx!!

I just heard County hit out Squad 85 from the Barnegat site. I never heard them do that before. Is there any reason they don't have a pager siren?

I don't know why they started hitting them out from 2 different towers. They didn't do that when I rode there. Maybe it has something to do with the coverage area being so large that some members are not within range of the Tuckerton tower.

Up until 2 or 3 years ago they were paged out by Little egg police located at giffordtown rd and rt 9.Yes they are a busy squad, and a relatively new one.About 6 or so years ago they were formed by the Mayors of all the major towns they cover because the Tuckerton Rescue squad got a little corupt with their monies and never got out.The funny thing is though the last time I checked the tuckerton squad was still in "business" although not doing much of anything, somtimes an ocassional transport for a resident to keep their name out there. Now MONOC has taken over their building and uses it for a base, along with the still somehow surviveing squad.More than you wanted to know but I am bored... :D

Tuckerton FAS is still in the business of fund raising. MONOC leases their building from them for $1 per year (I want a deal like that).

Iankm,

They are not the only squads dispatched on EMS 1.

Squads dispatched by county on EMS 1:
11 (Barnegat), 13 (Bayville, Berkeley Twp.) 15 (Beachwood), 20 (Holiday City, Berkeley Twp.), 21 (Island Heights), 24 (Lakehurst), 28 (Leisure Village), 29 (Manchester), 30 New Egypt), 31 (Ocean Gate), 37 (South Toms River), 43 (Whiting, Manchester Twp.), 44 (Silver Ridge Park, Manchester Twp.) 46 (Holiday Heights), 85 (Great Bay Regional)

Squads self dispatched (by their municipal dispatcher) on EMS 1:
23 (Lacey Twp.), 26 (Lanoka Harbor, Lacey Twp.), 27 (Lavallette), 38 (Stafford Twp.), 40 (Tri Boro, Seaside Park, Seaside Heights, Southeastern section of Berkeley Twp.), 42 (Waretown, Ocean Twp.), 47 (Lacey Twp, Underwater Rescue Team), 69 (Lacey Twp. Technical Rescue Team).

Note: Seaside Heights dispatches Tri Boro EMS on 155.205 (EMS 1 frequency) PL 131.8. Seaside Park dispatches them on it with the same PL that the county uses, 186.2

Thanks for the list, but there are some errors. Whenever Lacey Twp. does their pager tests, I only hear tests for Squads 23, 26, and 59. I never heard anything from Squads 47 or 69, so I would guess that they're dispatched another way.

In the 23 years I've lived in Ocean County I have never heard Lacey Twp. dispatch Squad 59. Didn't know they had one. STATION 59 is Bamber Lake FD.

I heard them dispatch them once or twice; they're in the pager tests. Squad 59 is Bamber Lake FD EMS.

"...... Bamber Lake FD/EMS" It's probably similar to Squad 49 in Surf City, not an actual EMS squad but an EMS unit run by the fire department out of the firehouse.
