Scanner in a Uniden BC296D, I use Proscan to load the scanner and ScanControle to fine tune the way I want the banks set up. It has the digital card and I do scan digital when I'm in Rutherford with no problem.

Question
1) I am trying to scan the OC trunk system. Imported everything from RR. It won't work. It doesn't stop on it at all. I have the State trunked system and it works fine, north and central, I switch depending where I am. I can't get the OC system to go. I'm in Toms River now. If I go through them on manual I get what I guess is the control channel noises. Some of the settings are: Type T2-UHF, the step is 12.5 and trunked box is checked in.

Question
2) I have the Toms River and Point Beach Digital Channels programmed. I get one side of the conversation sometimes, but most of the time I get it all digital mumbled. Are these towns encrypted?

Thanks
John

Did you enter the base, spacing and offset - 505.0000 12.5 380

Toms River, Point Pleasant, Brick, and Berkeley Twp are encrypted.

Just to add to Highpockets' post, spacing is the same as step, so we know you have that programed. Check on the other two (base and offset).

Thanks, that was it. I'm still learning the whole trunk thing. I have a nother question. It has to do the the Bayonne new P-25 trunked system. I put in the base 470.000 spacing 6.25 and offset 8192.
The base goes in ok.
The offset goes in as 0.0062
The offset won't go it says. Illegal entry - Value must be between 380 and 759.
any ideas?

Thanks
John

the offset should be 380, and the base is 505.000. Also if you want to listen to digital Lakewood pd is your best bet.

That statement is true for Motorola systems but not for APCO systems. I assume the software is what gave you that error message, does it differentiate between the two system types?

If all else fails, try programming the system basics from the keypad and reading it back from the scanner then filling in all the additional stuff with the software. The 296's manual notes that (manually) programming APCO systems is the same as Motorola systems except for the digital quality setting.
