There haven't been many updates on this system so I'll add a few thoughts from self-quarantining at the beach the past week. My G5 picked up the system well north of Brick Twp heading south on the GSP. Signal strength always maxed. I only programmed Sheriff dispatch, fire dispatch and fire zones. I heard Sheriff activity. I never monitor LE as it's not my thing so I can't say accurately whether 100% of sheriff traffic was there. I would think with the shelter at home orders, LE stops are probably down. Fire dispatch patch was active but not as active as what I would normally hear locked onto 508.1875. Fire marshal communications I heard 1 side of conversation was encrypted, the other side was in the clear. Any other thoughts from those who live down there and monitor more than I do. I know a lot of raod crews etc use the system but I didn't set the G5 to monitor.

I'm monitoring from Berlin Camden County. It just barely comes in on my G5 but there is a sweet spot at my location. I'm pretty sure all the EMS and fire zones are simulcast full time from the 500mhz system. And the radio IDs that come up seem to match the unit number (i.e ambulance 55-5) indicating they're likely using the new radios. Also Jackson Township EMS is using the new system.

Radios need to be affiliated on the new system in order for the simulcast to be active (example: if no radios are on Fire Zone 3 you won’t hear anything from the old system) Only TG that doesn’t need affiliation is the fire/EMS dispatch one. Radios IDs go by the town municipal ID and aren’t setup exactly by any unit. Wiki lists the IDs: Ocean County (NJ) (Project 25) Fire Radio IDs - The RadioReference Wiki

Thank you that's very informative. I notice entries for places like Beach Haven and Point Pleasant. Are these tests or will these units actually respond and operate on the new TRS?

Nope they’re just upgrading their county radios, they might even be all band models so they can use them full time at least portables I’m not 100% sure though.

There was a W/F in Manchester recently. I heard most of the radio traffic over the 700Mhz P25 system on West. Most likely patched rather than all units operating on the new system

Everything is simulcast from the old system, remember a new radio has to be affiliated to 700 MHz for this to be possible. Whiting chief 3300 has a new portable and was actually using the new system during that incident. Berkeley Township departments are the only ones heavily using 700 MHz at this point.

where is the info for the ocean county P25 system, Control Channels, Traffic Channels, TGs Etc.
Can anyone tell me if Ocean Township(Waretown) is using either one of the counties trunked systems or still using their UHF repeater?

Yes I didn’t see it buried all the way at the bottom, usually when u goto a county the systems are listed above all the municipalities, the only one listed at the top is the smart zone system
Thank you
The trunked systems have always been listed at the bottom of the county pages. Yes, they are also frequently listed in each subcategory as well, but they have to be put there manually by an admin. The list at the bottom is comprehensive and automatic. Always look there to see every system within a county.
