Looking for some guidance. I live in Cape Cod, Mass and find myself in Virginia Beach for a couple of days next weekend...Going through the Virginia Travel website, it looks like the 5oth anniversary of the Oceana Air Show is happening on the 19,20,21 of Sept. I have gone into the RR files and found some freqs for Virginia Beach and Oceana. Just wondering if any one has a quick freq sheet that would serve my interest. Also what is the status of the 800 trunks that are in the VB area. Thanks ahead of time,
Jeff

Depending on what type of scanner you have, I am sure there is someone in the area who can provide you with a file you can upload.

Last time I was in VB, which was last month, their system was as shown in the RR DB. The same for Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Suffolk.

I am usually not close enough to Oceana to listen in so I can't speak on them.

Just to reinforce LEH's comment, you didn't say which scanner(s) you were bringing with you, but with a premium subscription, there are many apps (even a few free ones) that will allow you to download data from the database into the software, and from there into the scanner. Makes life a whole lot easier if you have lots to program. Here's the link for the subscription - note that anything in blue or underlined is a link. Be sure to click on the web service link - look at the bottom of the page for the apps that support the web service...

and of course, someone sending you a file is another quick way to go...

This is the gold standard for freqs to monitor at airshows...(it' a PDF file)

Thanks for both responses...I'm traveling down on Amtrak so traveling light. Packing up the PRO-95, PRO-96 and Sony WaveHawk...So I'll have trunking and UHF AM all covered.

Steve thanks for info.. I pulled some trunking info off it for my trip. Also, sent an email to -- Blackwater Worldwide / USO Parachute Team-- and received a response back. It seems they usually afre on the 123.450 when they make their jumps! I'll have to wait and see over the weekend.

Don't forget to load in Amtrak itself. Could be interesting listening to the train as you travel.

I agree, I've done that several times recently and it helps because you can find out where you are as they call out each signal. Plus, if you go through Union Station in DC, it is always a zoo. Get the Amtrak freqs and the baggage handlers.

Have fun at the Beach!

Lynn, trip was great. Amtrak ride down was longer than expected. But some interesting stuff along the ride and into the stations. We stayed at Wyndham the 3 days--never made it over to the field but did catch some of the acts as they came over towards the beach. Looked like the Friday practice of Blue Angels was low practice, Sat kind of cloudy and Sun seemed to be the best day. Caught some of the acts on scanners but I thought would hear much more being close?? to action. Maybe just didn't have the right freqs plugged in. Did get some great Blue Angel action on Sunday over the beach and on the radio.
