I was sitting in the parking lot on break playing around with the car radio like I usually do, and came across WWVA 1170 (A usual hit I get)

I listened for a bit and there was a few seconds of silence between switching from commercials back to the program and in this brief period I was able to hear another station and catch "WAJR Morgantown" which I know is also in WV but on 1440am ( I have never even picked up this station on its normal frequency from where I live in north east NJ)

Has anybody ever heard this or a had similar situation?

Thanks :)

Transmitters are seldom in the city of license so you'd have to locate the transmitter sites to check my theory. I've seen several instances of an AM station's modulation leaking into another (AM or FM) audio chain. Could be during the silence and the limiter running wide open one transmitter broadcast the other ID.

Here's a tidbit, originally WOBM AM licensed to Toms River, NJ was on 1170, somebody goofed. Soon after they switched to 1160 to avoid interfering with each other after dark.
