Yaesu: Odd Audio issue with FT-897

I have an approx. 20 year old Yaesu FT-897D and I notice that on occassion while on 10M SSB, the audio level cuts out a little. I am more talking about the background atmospheric noise but it does also bring down the audio level of a station transmitting at this time, too. I can often 'correct' if by pressing the PTT button, then the atmospheric noise audio level comes back to normal. It seems to only happen on 10M. If this issue is happening and I flip over to 15M or 20M, the atmospheric noise audio level is normal. Has anyone else noticed this issue? If so, anyone know of a fix?

I don't know of any specific Yaesu owners forum or I would have posted this there.

If it's failing ceramic IF filter(s), would this make sense to only happen on 1 band? (10M in my case) I assume sending the unit back to Yaesu would be the only fix?

band pass filter relay getting soft
could be the change over relay
but since the trouble is band specific, I would start there

Thanks. I guess I will wait for it to get worse until I send it into Yaesu for repair as it's more of an annoyance right now than anything.
