Will the close call pick up Apco digital signals? Or just analog?

Good question! I'd like to know that myself!

Well, my BC246T will pick up a P25 signal, so I imagine the 396 will as well. Now, whether or not the 396 will actually decode it is another issue, but I suspect it will. Obviously, the 246 will not.

Yes, if it gets a Close Call hit from an APCO-25 digital modulated source, it will decode the audio.

I don't have final sensitivity specs.

I would like to start getting ready for my BCD396T when it arrives so I can program it. I have ARC246 software (full version) and have several files. I most likely will be using the USAD software to program the 396. Is there a way to convert ARC files to USAD or can I copy and paste? What I am doing is adding more freqs. With over 2000 more channels than the 246 I would like to add more for when I travel. I wanted to have all the freqs in some type of format that would easily transfer to the USAD software. Any other ideas? Thanks for any replies

Ok, that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I am so buying this scanner.

That is a HUGE feature for me. Now when I'm at the foot ball game, I can hear what's going on in the stadium w/o programming anything!!!

They use Voice Inversion, or at least at the Bengals do...

I was talking about EMS and police at the game!! LOL, I guess I should have specified. I know its a loud environment at a football game, but if you have a set of ear buds, they work great. I just put one in my left ear so I can still hear out of my right ear.

Too bad about the UHF gap .... cancelled my preorder.

Back to the Icom R-2. Its small and NO GAPS except cellular.

Also never go an answer about the signal meter being supported by protocol so that was STRIKE TWO.

STRIKE THREE was the not so fully unlocked software from Uniden contrary to what Paul had said about FULL SOFTWARE.

Guess his definition of FULL and MINE are different...

But the good news is I SAVED $530.00...... :p

Yes but no digital and no trunking. You can even compare the 2 radios.

The BCD396T includes full-version fully unlocked software. I'm not sure where this got contradicted.

I am not familiar with the PC protocols, so cannot answer your other questions. However, I did post the protocols on the Uniden web site for those who are interested.

Are we talking about a) the Uniden website and b) the 396T protocols? If the answer is "yes" to both (or even just the protocol one), I'd certainly love to check that out. Care to provide a link?

Thanks,

Paul

Mike,

According to Uniden (UPMan), the 396T will be flashable to the new bandplan when it is ready (unless there is a major re-think of this by Uniden or it's not possible). Anyways, Uniden seems to be on-top of this issue.

It would be awsome if Uniden posted the 396T software for download on their site before selling the 396. I could get all my files loaded so when the scanner gets here I could just plug it to the PC and be scanning in no time! :D

UPMan commented on this somewhere. He said if it's ready before the scanner is released, it will be posted before the scanner is released.

AKA He will release no software before it's time.
