sale @ rat shack

Don't believe this applies to all shops, but I was visiting the mustang, ok store today. Clerk said pro-96 was on sale for $399. I didn't actually SEE the sale tag though.

Felt kinda ill, just bought a used one off ebay for $395 w/ bats & cable.

also there is scannermaster.com, they've been for sale there for $439.99 for a while.

Purely out of curiousity after reading the above post, I called a couple of Radio Shack stores in Little Rock, AR to see if they had the 96 and if it was on sale. Two I called didn't have one and the other had one and the price was $499. I was really hoping that it was on sale for $399 but that's not the case here in AR. Maybe it will be soon?

I really wouldn't doubt it, possibly on ebay you may find that. What's the highest price anyone on here has seen for the Pro-96?

Cable

As of right now, where is the cheapest place to get a new pc cable for my 96? Also, can someone explain or point out exactly what Win96 will do for my radio and where I can get it?

Thanks all

Did you unzip it after you downloaded it?

I really don't want to purchase it since this is my work computer. I'll just have to try my computer at home.
?? So download Winzip and Win96 and unzip the Win96 software. Winzip can be used for 21 days on evaluation, Win96 can be used for 30 days on evaluation. :?

Besides organizing my radio, exactly what will the Win96 do for my radio? I pretty much have everything programmed, so I'm just curious.

Well, progarming changes is the first thing that comes to mind; however, how about backup of the programming you have done by hand? If you plan on traveling, setting up custom V-Folders and loading them in the radio. Oh yeah, extending the frequency coverage in that MilAir gap the radio has.

A couple of other advantages like being able to "see" what is programmed on the screen come to mind, but it would be easier for you to download the software and give it a spin. That is why Don enables you to use the full version for 30 days without registration. :D

Come on! Winzip is a great program. Throw a couple of bucks their way and help prove shareware works.

Well since its not shareware anymore then I don't see that happening :) I'll stick with what they already gave me for free or use one of the other unzipping programs I have
