I have encountered this issue as well. Noted that this happens when the PSR-500 is scanning when the upload is initiated. I have stopped scanning before starting an upload (press 'PGM'), and this has not occurred again.

Hope this helps.
Dan

Ahh great hint, I'll try it. Thanks!

StarrSoft for tweaked for the Pro-106

DonS,

I know the Win500 package works for the new Pro-106, but I was curious if there is anything in the way of "tweaks" needed for Pro-106 ?

Or is there a separate Win106 program coming up ?

Thanks, Tim

No, and No.

As far as programming is concerned, the PRO-106 and PSR-500 are identical.

Don,

Thanks for such a fast answer.

I think I already know the answer is no, but can I clone the Pro-96 to the 106 ?

No. You can only clone between like models. For example, you can clone between the PRO-96 and PRO-2096, or between any two of [PRO-106, PRO-197, PSR-500, PSR-600], but not between a PRO-96 and a PRO-106.

EDIT: however, you can use a PC as an "intermediary" to simulate cloning. You can read from the PRO-96 into Win500, then send that data straight to the PRO-106.

Don,

Thank you for the info....

It's good to know I can use Win500 to read and program the Pro-96 as well.

I guess I should just use Win500 exclusively and shelve the Win96. Unless Win96 will do something for my 96 that Win500 can't or won't.

Thanks, Tim

Win500 won't write to the PRO-96. It will read from the PRO-96 (and will read .P96 files).

Doh!

Yes, that's what I mean. I've edited the above post to reflect that.

Don,

Thank you again for your quick response and assistance.

Your software programs have made the hobby a pleasure.

Regards, Tim

win500 question-- adding sites/freqs to TSYS

How do you add a new site name & freq to an existing & saved TSYS , i.e., multi-site NC Viper system. I have the NC VIPER system's TSYS programmed as Viper 1, Viper 2, Viper 3 with all NCHP TGRP's mapped to each one. New sites & freqs are updated alot on RR. How do you add the alpha tag for the new site and it's freq to the existing TSYS? I know you can go into "System Freqs" box and add the freq there but I'm at a loss as how to add the site name to the existing TSYS.

Thanx for any help.

A TSYS can only have one "name". You can't have an alpha tag for each site in the TSYS if the TSYS has more than one site.

What are the steps to download?

Just got a Pro-106 yesterday. Downloaded my 96 files to the software. How do I go about uploading it to the scanner??
TIA,

Basic Question, Please

Hello,

Hate to appear dumber than I am, but will blame it on my age.
A real basic question, please:

I have one of the columns, e.g. SQUELCH or MODE, that has various selections from the pull-down menu choices in the column.

I want to make them all the same, without doing it individually for each line.

How (exactly) are the steps to do this ?

Thanks,
Bob

While viewing your objects on the CONV Objects tab, it's possible to select all of the conventional objects several ways:
  • From the Edit menu choose Select All
  • From the keyboard press Ctrl-A
  • Right click and choose Select All
With all the conventional objects selected you can set the Squelch Mode & Modulation to the same thing for all objects using the menus at the right. It's also possible to toggle some things on or off (REC, LOut, Att., etc.) by clicking in the appropriate column with all objects selected.

Assuming you mean converting Win96 files into Win500 software.

1. With cable plugged in at both ends, click Configuration Menu and select "find PSR-500/600 Serial Port". When dialog comes up, click Yes.
2. Click on Scanner Menu and select "Upload to Scanner".

Come to think of it, steps 1 and 2 works even if you downloaded from the Pro-96.

Thank you. I got it to work. Listening to the FD on my county's new P-25 system. Didn't have a problem importing my 96 file to the new software. Just couldn't get it to see the scanner. Got to unlatch the LED though:)
Thanks again,
Larry

Help file on the way?

Don, I see where the Help file is in your "list of things to do"... Any idea when we can expect that? The help file with Win96 was a huge help several years ago. With all the advanced ability of Win500, I sure could use one!! Thanks....
