And that is an easy way to say thanks.... :D

Yeah, I figure vendors that help the community, and there are other White Hats mentioned here deserve a good look. They have to be competititive, but if it comes down to a Happy Meals worth of difference, those that contribute get my sale.

Now back to BC246T stuff. I'm eager to see a box appear in the mail! !

ALso, as rumor has it that the radios are in the supply chain to the dealers, I'm also looking for Uniden to release the BC246T Software to allow folks to get their systems organized.

Just spoke to Scanner Master too and got mine ordered. I normally order grom Grove Enterprises but they won't have any until next week. That and I want to help support our site.

I also ended up ordering through Scanner Master - placed my order a week ago. Sounds like some of us may be getting this scanner before Thanksgiving, provided all goes well. I look forward to hearing from others out there with their initial impressions and reviews of this scanner, as they begin arriving in the mail.

I am going to be getting mine at scanner master too. Just because they support this site. And one day I will donate some money to this site.

Well since I didn't get into the trunking scene until about 3 years ago (there had been all kinds of trunking scanners out including the 243 and pro-91, pro-92, and other "stuff"), for me it is the most anticipated scanner of my life. I wasn't too thrilled about the Pro-96 or digital scanner line of the Unidens because no one in my area is digital just yet.

I guess if you lived in an area with an EDACS system the BC245XLT may have been the most anticipated scanner... but then the PRO-92 was the first Multi-System Trunking Scanner

But then the 246 is the first "real" dynamic memory scanner...

I would say the BC235XLT was, but now the 246 may be equal

I would definitely agree that the BC235XLT tops the list. The ability to follow the numerous existing trunked systems cannot compare to having a built-in frequency counter. The trunktracking feature is still one of the most popular features while the counter, if it was so much in demand, has been long since met by the Scout and other counters made in the last 25 years.

That said, the BC246T is a close runner-up - along the lines of the PRO-96 with its V-folders and 9600 trunking. Back to the 246T, the memory management is unequalled in a scanner. The size is a great leap forward. But, the digital version should prove to be a much more anticipated item - especially if the Close Call will capture digital transmissions. That was only recently developed by the Digital Scout.

The digital version should be as close as we've come yet to the ultimate scanner. (at least the most ultimate that can be legally produced)

Now, if only Uniden would include a V-scanner type memory feature :!:

Yup, and that was my very first trunk tracker. Then I found out there was a scanner that was more sensitive on the 800MHz band (the 95), so I got it and now i am getting the 246. You know what's wierd? Even though I buy more and more scanners, I don't sell any of the old ones. I don't know why. Well I guess one reason would be because for every old one I find a use. My very old Pro-34 is used for T4Win, my Pro-92 is used to sniff out PLs/DPLs and weather sattelite monitering (although I havn't picked anything up yet with the RS telescopic antenna) and my Pro-95 is my main scanner. Once I get my 246, my 95 will become my "mobile" scanner, or it will become a "base" scanner.

Control channel only trunking

I've been going through the manual for the 246 and found the various references to CC only trunking on Motorola systems.

Does anyone know if it will do CC only on UHF trunking, or just 800MHz as in the past?

I'm more concerned about Uniden putting some kind of audio AGC on their next anticipated digital scanner. Right now, that's one of the major reasons I don't use the BC296D as often as the Pro-96, I have to keep adjusting the audio so much, it goes from barely discernible to speaker-blasting in a second. That effect of turning the knob so much is what I call the "Yo-Yo Knob Syndrome", maybe I should add it to the urbandictionary.com database!

246T Is In My Hands ..

Thanks to Glenn at Scanners Unlimited for getting my 246T so fast. For people that are looking for great service .. give him a call. For those of us that live here in Canada it is the service that matters .. and in my little opinion the service can't be beat. Now if only some of the other places would be as good, as in the past they have been terrible. I do agree with the post above .. we should reward the places that have stuck by the scanner community.

Havin Fun ... :D

Yep. AGC would be nice, too.

As for that web site, well, there are some really strange things there. It seems to also be primarily a political comment board as opposed to a legit dictionary source. I think I gave it too much credit before - especially before it was compared to works of fiction (which seems more on target the more I think about it).

At least your term isn't negative (unlike others)

Hummm, Wonder why the Scanner Master folks are getting units out slower then others. Just kinda disappointed that it won't arrive by the weekend I guess.

No Idea. My order still shows BackOrder. Discouraging a bit as reports over on the Yahoo lists are reporting radios in hand, and so far, it's pretty quiet here.
