good morning everyone. my bc246t is scheduled to be delivered today (11/19) and i cant wait (its 4am here, still havent gone to bed, cant sleep). lol. this is how you KNOW this scanner is greatly anticipated. hopefully my boss wont pick me up and i wont have to work today. anyway, hope everyone else gets theirs as fast as i got mine (1 day... scanner master shipped it out on 11/18 and im getting it on 11/19 without having to pay next day charges). happy scanning

Software Recomendation

Warning: NOOB question.

My BC246T is on it's way. I've dug around and found a ton of frequenices to scan. I'm wondering what the best software is to program the unit. I understand that the demo software does not allow you to edit the alpha tags. So, I thought I'd go for the full meal deal.(assuming that the full version allows the editng of alpha tags)

What is my best software option for editing the alpha tags and setting up the systems and groups ...?

John ...

Question for Beta Testers .. or anyone else

I have been playing with the 246T and have several questions ...

First ... If you have one system (ie EMS) and have several groups ('dispatch' and 'on scene') in that EDACS system. How do you quickly enable or disable the GROUPS while in ID scan mode ? Like on the older scanners you just depressed the number corresponding to the 'scanlist' (which is now really the equivalent to a group ?) and you could enable / disable that group of talkgroups/channels. How do you do it on the 246 in an easy fashion ?

Secondly .... when in 'id scan' mode .. and you press the HOLD button on the front, you can scroll thru the channels with the knob on the top. How do you just display the 'channels in THAT group' and not all the channels in the system .. including the frequencies (ie LCN's in an edacs system) ?

Am I missing something here ...

Thanks in advance. :?

To quickly enable/disable channel groups, press F while scanning the system (or if you aren't on the system, press F and scroll to the system). Then, while continuing to hold F, press the Group Quick Key you want to enable/disable.

There is no way to do your 2nd. When you HOLD, scrolling will step through all programmed channels. However, the GRP icons at the bottom of the screen do indicate the channel group assignment for the current channel, and scrolling steps through in channel group order.

ok... i have the tracking number for my shipment... but everytime i go to the ups website... it tells me its an invalid tracking number. i checked the number, made sure it was right... and on "my accout" at scannermaster.com, it tells me it was shipped "PRIORITY MAIL/UPS". is there a different website i need to visit? trying to find out when it will be here, so i know what day to take off work.

Admin0140434,

Looking back at some of the posts you made on this thread, it looks like you order your BC246T from scannermaster.com on 11/13. Is that correct?

You also said that is on it's way already. I pre-ordered mine with scannermaster.com also BUT on 11/2 and mine still says it's "backorder". What gives? :x

I'm sorry you haven’t received your 246 yet. Try Glenn at Scanners Unlimited in San Carlos.
Glenn almost always has his inventory before the big guys. Picked my up today and loving it! Thanks Scott for your review! Now for some software!

Yea, I've ordered with Glenn at least a couple of times before with no problems. If I run into problems, I may cancel my order with scannermaster and go with Glenn, I'm mostly in a hurry to get it because I'm leaving for 3 weeks after Thanksgiving Day and would definitely like to take it with me.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I have been able to go over the radio more and well it is a great radio ... I do recommend it and though it is a departure from the previous way of doing things, I think this will be a radio I will use and the other Uniden scanners I own will sit ..

Everyone enjoy this great radio ..

well im a little pissed... UPS lost my scanner... they left it at my front door (which i left a note ON THE DOOR specifically saying DO NOT LEAVE IT HERE, GIVE TO NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR) and the ******* did it anyway. no i have to wait 8 days for them to search for my package. if they cant find it, they have to let the shipper know and then scannermaster will send another bc246t.

Sorry about that! I know I would be perturbed if this happened to me. Fortunately for me, our neighborhood is safe and the delivery people are responsible.

,,,and why couldn't this "nice lady" bring the package to you, or tell the UPS guy "this isn't me, you want so and so.."
